Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
Well it doesn't say you CAN destroy them. So I'll rule that under "do what the rule says, not what the rule doesn't say."
The problem for Godzilla is that parts of the Skyscraper have to be ruled as terrain, just like hexes on top of Castle walls are terrain. If Godzilla wants to remove terrain, that's fine, but he'll need to specify it like Galactus does. For the sake of not blocking him from removing Obstacles only, I've opted to make this fully terrain and not a terrain/obstacle hybrid, as that would break the game with him in his current form. It's not fair to block design space or Godzilla's progress like that. I'm sure that some buildings with exterior play only can be ruled as obstacles and not terrain, but that doesn't work here, IMO, with so many interior spaces available. Also, if we rule the entire thing an obstacle, people are going to grouch about Selene. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
According to the fortress rules, Fortress Walls are made up on wall sections, bases and wall walks (the spaces on top). The entire piece is terrain. The only obstacles in the fortress set are battlements.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
OK. When asked,
@dok
said differently about the wall sections, but if you are right, that's more confirmation that going fully terrain is the way to go here and that if Godzilla wants to be able to remove terrain like Galactus, that's a Godzilla thing, not a Skyscraper thing.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
Yeah, the wall walks on top are definitely terrain. I don't believe the wall pieces are ever explicitly defined one way or the other in the rules. Based on the definitions we have, an uncapped wall column would be an obstacle. I could see the argument that anything with walkable terrain on top becomes terrain.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
Yeah, that makes some sense. Which would mean that the non-breakable part of the breakable wall sections are terrain due to the hexes on top (though also DOs if played that way in C3G).
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

That agrees with my reading of the rules.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
Can I get a vote for testing? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
I also just finished reading over all the rules (didn't have the time earlier). I'd still like to see this line added in the Elevator Shaft section:
Figures cannot trace clear sight through an Elevator Shaft space. Other than that, looks really good and everything seems to be well covered. So glad you took down notes and could read the ones I took down. |

Re: The Book of Skyscraper - VOTE for Initial Playtesting
Yeah, I'm fine adding that line, even for a non-voting member like you.
I'll update that and then this passes to the initial playtesting phase. Now that we're all on the same page with Godzilla, I plan to run two games with him on the Skyscraper map. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
