Colorado Spring Victory Point Heroscape Tournament
March 11th at Advantage Games

New players, newcomers, and spectators are all welcome to come participate in a few hours of playing the greatest board game of all time.

We have two signup sheets:

1. Gameday signup for new players who just want to show up anytime during the event and learn the game or play casually (Sheet A)
   
2. Tournament signup for players who want to participate in the tournament (Sheet B)

armies will be provided for new players; please let us know if you will need armies

Food: Food is not provided, however there is a great local Mexican chain called Tamale Kitchen in the same parking lot, an asian place at the end of the strip mall, and a new Mexican place opening up next door (that may or may not be open yet for our event) or you may bring your own food

Tournament Schedule:
Map setup will begin at 10am for anyone who is bringing maps (or wants to help set them up).

Please check in by 10:10 so that we can assign matchups and begin playing promptly at 10:30am.

We will have a lunch break from 11:30-12.

4. players begin play at 2:00pm.
   ten minute warning given at 2:45pm.
   "Last round" called out at 2:50pm.
   "Finish current order markers" called out at 2:53pm.
5. players begin play at 3:00pm.
   ten minute warning given at 3:45pm.
   "Last round" called out at 3:50pm.
   "Finish current order markers" called out at 3:53pm.
6. players begin play at 4:00pm.
   ten minute warning given at 4:45pm.
   "Last round" called out at 4:50pm.
   "Finish current order markers" called out at 4:53pm.

We will have a pause for prize table selection after the first round in which there is only one undefeated player (typically the 4th round, so around 3pm). Rounds played after that will affect standings on Heroscape.org and may factor into a future championship event.

Prizes:If you bring something for the prize table and stay to the fourth round of the event you will get to select something from the prize table. Order of prize selection is done based on player record in the event.
Suggested prize value is $15-$30 and can be gaming/nerd related or even just a coffee/gameshop/amazon.com gift card. 3d prints are welcome on the prize table!

Sign up for the event on Heroscape.org here. We use Heroscape.org for army validation, matchups, rankings, etc. We cannot start the event until all players have registered, so be sure to do it in advance.

Army Format

• 600 points, 24 figures, using Delta pricing
  • Airborne Elite, Rechets of Bogdan, Wing Commander Tuck Harrigan, and Bound Heroes of the Acolytes of Vorganund count towards this figure limit.
  • Bring extra hexes if your army will not fit in a 24-hex start zone.
• No more than 285 points of figures in your army may come from this list:

Victory Point Format details

Each game will end after 4 rounds. Whoever has the most points at that time wins the game, regardless of the number of figures remaining on the board (even if one player's army has been completely destroyed).

Ties
In the case of a tie, play one additional round if time allows. If time does not allow or the game is still tied after an additional round, use partial card scoring as the tiebreaker.

Scoring
Scoring is performed at the end of the round, after all end of round effects have been resolved, before the next round begins. Scroll down to the TL;DR to see the point values.

Key Points and Objective Zones
Each map will have at least one "Key Point." The Key Point and all hexes within 2 hexes of that Key Point are called an Objective Zone. These Objective Zones will be used for scoring (see below).

For your army to control an Objective Zone, you must have more army cards of figures in the Objective Zone (on or within two spaces of the Key Point) than your opponent does.

The Key Points and Objective Zones for each map are listed along with the map in this post.

Example:
At the end of Round 3, caps has 5 Knights of Weston, Arkmer, and 3 Goblin Cutters within an Objective Zone. firewings has Moltenclaw, Mimring, and Otonashi within that same Objective Zone. caps has 4 army cards in the Zone (2 cards of Knights, Arkmer, and 1 card of Goblin Cutters), whereas firewings has 3 army cards in the Zone (Moltenclaw, Mimring, and Otonashi). caps would score 3 Victory Points for that Objective Zone (since it is the third round). caps and firewings would repeat this process for any other Objective Zones.

Additionally, caps would score 2 points for the treasure glyph carried by Arkmer, while firewings would score 1 point for controlling the glyph of Dagmar and 1 point for controlling the glyph of Valda.

TL;DR
Each game will end after 4 rounds. Whoever has the most points at that time wins the game.

Points are scored at the end of every round as follows:

• 2 points for every treasure glyph in possession of a hero you control
• 1 point for every power glyph controlled by your army
• A variable number of points for every Objective Zone your army controls:
  • In the first round, Objective Zones are worth 1 point each.
  • In the second round, they are worth 2 points each.
  • In the third and subsequent rounds, they are worth 3 points each.

We are about 3 weeks away from this event! We scheduled this event with shorter notice than we usually do due to my schedule constraints, so a few details are still getting ironed out, but we are well on our way. I'm looking forward to this one!

Thank you! I now have objective zones defined for almost all of the maps in the pool.

However, it's looking like our player count is going to be around 14 including non-tournament attendees, so we are probably going to cut way back on the number of maps.
