Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Scape Component Redistribution
Parts of the collection formerly from a pal of Chas who left it all to him years ago and which went to Kolakoski, and then one of our newer members, is now being redistributed yet again due to storage concerns back to some of us who have room for it. Sherman Davies did some cataloguing of the figures and terrain, sent us lists, and took some stuff for himself. I've now gone over the figures and taken some for myself. Other things are being saved for Thrasher Darkrai as requested. The figures and some terrain will be here on Saturday and later for redistribution. |

Planning Kolakoski Scape
I'll be looking for my two Lexan Water Mats we haven't used for years for this piratical game we're holding tomorrow. We'll be using plastic "stones" for 48 "neutral" Ants of Anstrum. And K. will be over early to help make adjustments to the map after I build it here later today. Teamwork makes gaming fun! |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Two Kolakoski Scape Games: "The Treasure of Xualtica"
I found my two old Lexan Water Maps and we used them for the first time in years. K. and T. built up the sides of the island not covered by the Lexan Water Mats--used for the entries for either team on opposite ends--with rows of more water hexes 5 deep. The Longboats were placed on the Lexan mats six hexes from the island. We used plastic "stones" available in most craft stores for the 48 Xualtica Fire Ants we needed; I keep these around for use in many different board games. We used 24 Red and 24 Black to differentiate Ants controlled by the two sides. This was the first game where we mixed some Age of Annihilation proxy units with regular Classic and Custom Scape. Only K. used some, and this worked out fine. Game One I was teamed with Kolakoski. The Ants proved so strong and numerous that our armies never engaged with each other, but spent the game fighting the neutral island defenders. The Longboats were much to slow for K. to implement his interesting strategy of sailing his around the island to hit the enemy team when they would return, supposedly battered by fighting the Ants, with the Treasure Chest. I was the only one to get a figure (Cyprien) to the Chest, but never got to move it, even with two Skeletons of Annilinta on his card killed on the ocean but respawning adjacent to him atop the island's central pyramid. This was the first time we had the new CV Ataraxis The Star Lich on the board (in my army), but she wasn't very useful due to the Ants. My esoteric proxy for her was the Gypsy Seer from the circus set of Horror Clicks! Both sides eventually gave up on trying to get the Chest, and the Ants won! Game Two We changed the Ant rule so that they would not respawn. This time I was teamed with Sherman Davies. He docked at the island and got some of his figures onto it. I barely was able to land any at the very end of the game, absorbed totally by combat with the Ants. This was the first time we put the new VC dragon Kalagrith on the board (in my second army). The Gold Dragon (correct VC mini lent to me by Thrasher Darkrai, who could not be present) did get one nice Scorched Earth run and killed three Black Ants at once. But when she flew onto the central pyramid to engage with the enemy team after the Ants were mostly gone from the game, she whiffed on defense and took five hits in one blow! She was taken out the next turn. Since the enemy Vipers were all faster than our characters and they were near the Treasure Chest, we would not be able to catch them. We therefore conceded to the game to the other team of Kolakoski and Taeblewalker, after a good long play. This interesting scenario was a variation on others K. had run long ago, and he actually had AOA Pirates to use in this piratical game! I had suggested further modifications which were not used. They and a couple of others appear downthread for consideration in future plays of ours, or some by our visitors trying the game out. Last edited by chas; March 20th, 2023 at 07:38 AM. |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Suggested Modifications To Kolakoski Scenario "The Treasure of Xualtica"
By Chas 1. The Ants no longer respawn. (This change was added for Game Two). 2. Cut down the 24 Ants per side to 12 each. 3. The Treasure Chest can be moved by one character (instead of needing two). 4. The Treasure Chest can be moved by a carrier on top of it who is engaged. He/she takes leaving engagements as normal. 5. The Longboat speed is tripled. One Hero or Squad member moves it 3 hexes (instead of one) when activated. So a three member squad moves it 9 hexes. 6. The Longboat is no longer held in place by any adjacent enemy figure except a Huge one. Any other adjacent enemy (or adjacent friendly figure) is swept along with the boat undamaged if it moves, remaining adjacent to the same boat space(s) with which it began adjacency before the boat moved. Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
ChasScape is now set for Sat. April 15, which the five active members report as good for them. I have some ideas for a scenario, and will be working on it.
On that date people will also have a first or second chance to look over the remaining figures/cards and terrain recently made available for redistribution. |

I still say fewer ants would have been better, but yeah, it did work out very well the second time around.

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! A couple of reserve scenarios: Wetwork "I can't take it anymore!" Morgoloth was majestically wroth. "Kill the intruders! Make the water run red with their blood!" The Map. Leakways and Creekways by killercactus (3 BftU, 21 additional water tiles), with the Power Glyphs removed. The Armies. Anticipating the usual four player, two team format, the armies (one per player) are as follows (will create more if more players): Team Evil 140 Drow x 2 135 Wo-Sa-Ga 70 Brigand x 2 75 Cormin the Dark 60 Elaria the Pale 20 Marcu Esenwein 500, 13 spaces 160 Wolves of Badru x 2 140 Morgoloth 115 Ashi-Dhulu 80 Estivara 495, 9 spaces Team Good 160 Shaolin Monks x 2 130 Master Lao Xin 75 Kha 70 Brigand x 2 60 Darrak Ambershard 495, 11 spaces 130 Armocs x 2 130 Kozil 120 Venoc Warlord 120 Tandros Kreel 500, 13 spaces Victory Conditions. After 10 Rounds, Team with most points destroyed, partial card scoring, wins. The Forbidden Cathedral! "Then it is agreed. The truce will last until the Undead threat is ended, and the Treasure has been distributed evenly among us." As he left the room, he thought, "Or close enough to ended, with enough of the Treasure in our hands." The Map. STAROCEAN980's The Forbidden Cathedral. If too large, a smaller map may be substituted. The Adventurers. Four players (or more), each to field a 600 point army (C3V/SoV allowed; no Marvel), containing exactly five Unique Heroes (no Uncommons, Soulborgs or Constructs). No player's army may contain Nicholas Esenwein. In an order to be determined randomly, each player shall place one of his Heroes anywhere on the Map, until all players' Heroes have been placed, prior to the game, but after Thrall and Treasure Glyph placement. Heroes may not be placed in positions they could not reach on their own from the ground. For example, a non-flying Large Hero may not be placed on a space accessible only by Ladder. A players' Heroes may not be placed on Treasure Glyphs, but may be placed adjacent to opponents' Heroes and/or Thralls/Nicholas Esenwein. Special Rules. Treasure Glyphs. There shall be twelve Treasure Glyphs (trapped normally), which shall be placed one at a time within the Cathedral by the players, in an order to be determined randomly, until all are placed, prior to Thrall placement. Thralls. There shall be twelve Thralls (three each of Bloodburst, Darkprowl, Deathstrike, and Preyblood), which shall be placed one at a time within the Cathedral by the players, in an order to be determined randomly, until all are placed, prior to Hero placement. Each player may designate one Order Marker (OM) per Round to take a turn with a Thrall. Such OM may be used to take a turn with any one Thrall. Thus, Treasure Glyphs, Thralls, and Heroes will be placed in that order. Nicholas Esenwein. Nicholas Esenwein shall be placed at the top of the center tower, prior to the game. The player with the lowest Intiative roll at the beginning of a Round may move an OM he designated to take a turn with a Thrall to Nicholas Esenwein's Card, prior to play, which he may use to take a turn with Nicholas Esenwein. Adventurers' Alliance. All players' Heroes shall be considered Friendly to each other until one of the following events occurs: 1. One player collects four Treasure Glyphs. 2. One player kills four Thralls. 3. One player kills Nicholas Esenwein. Victory Conditions. After ten Rounds, Victory Points (VPs) shall be awarded to each player as follows: 1. One VP for each Thrall that player's Heroes have killed. 2. One VP for each Treasure Glyph in that player's Heroes' possession. 3. Two VPs for any of that player's Hero's killing of Nicholas Esenwein. 4. Two VPs for each opponent's Hero killed by any of that player's Heroes. 5. Two VPs for each of that player's Heroes remaining on the Map. The player with the most VPs after ten Rounds wins the game. ![]() Next Generation |
