Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
For Black Widow, I'd recommend the 2014 solo series (Black Widow Vol. 1: The Finely Woven Thread). I haven't finished it, but it's a really fun book. It has her doing what she does best, going on missions and trying to make up for her past.
My introduction to her was as the "The most dangerous woman in all of Europe" in Marvel 1602 (probably my favorite graphic novel). She was cool in the first issue of the 2010 Heroes for Hire, which had Misty Knight recruiting various street level heroes to do various jobs depending on the issue. That'd be a really cool Misty design actually. She also has some fun classic adventures with Daredevil, but I'm running out of recs here. I remember she was in the first Marvel knights series but remember nothing about it. I also loved last year's Black Widow movie, exploring her past and her cobbled together spy family. It was also pretty grounded until the end, which was refreshing as I like solo hero stories where the world isn't always at stake. edit: my favorite is the 170 point generalist unit. Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
For Hawkeye, Fraction and Aja's run. It's pretty well known, but I'd recommend Hawkeye Vol. 1: My Life as a Weapon to anyone getting into to comics as it's simply one of the best I've read. I also loved the duo's work on Immortal Iron Fist which is what led me to this series. The characters are real, the art is amazing, and you still get the comic book hijinks Marvel is known for. The whole thing is collected in Hawkeye by Fraction & Aja: The Saga of Barton and Bishop.
Also, if you read all of that, or even if you didn't, definitely read Kate Bishop's Hawkeye solo series. Other fantastic comics with your favorite archer (at least a version of him): - Old Man Logan and Old Man Hawkeye set in an apocalypse where the villains won and there are almost no heroes left. - Marvel Universe vs. The Avengers, which is part of a fun series detailing everyone succumbing to a virus which turns everyone into cannibals (i.e. Marvel zombies but not). It says the Avengers, but really it's just Clint. There are two more about Wolverine and The Punisher. My favorite is the og 150 point design Last edited by Splash; June 21st, 2022 at 02:12 PM. |

Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
Hawkeye is a really fun character in Al Ewing's New Avengers run, some of my all-time favorite Clint moments there. Feels like it reconciles the Fraction Hawkguy take with the more traditional spin on the character.
I'm also big on his stint leading the Thunderbolts in Busiek and Nicieza's Thunderbolts runs. Not sure I have a lot of really solid Widow recs. Late, but I also heavily endorse More Than Meets the Eye. |

Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
Sinestro Wars is the big one for all the rainbow corps.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
I think Sinestro Corps War only involves Yellow and Green. Rage of the Red Lanterns is the first intro to the Blue Lanterns, and it’s a great read. After then you’ll see Ganthet and Saint Walker pretty regularly in Blackest Night then New Guardians. I love that entire run and would recommend it all in order (the whole Johns-Tomasi era is peak Lantern Corps, for me).
The Green Lantern animated TV series also involves Saint Walker and Ganthet to a lesser extent, and is a great adaptation of the universe. |

Ah, touche. I get confused about what was introduced in which story between Sinestro Wars and Blackest Night. Any Corps fan should really read both regardless.

Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
Yeah I'd probably say the Blue Lanterns start in Rage of the Red Lanterns.
Then Agent Orange and Blackest Night. Saint Walker is definitely my favorite. An uncommon Blue Lantern to fill out the standard lanterns would be cool, and maybe a central battery. |

Re: C3G Comics Guide and Theme Review
One of my favorite DC characters. Like a lot of DC heroes, I still haven't read much of him, but I've heard good things about his last few recent series.
My main rec is for sure Justice League/Justice League Unlimited. It was cool to see him in Snyder's JL movie, but he was only in like two scenes. edit: My personal favorite is the classic 300 point army mover. Last edited by Splash; June 21st, 2022 at 02:15 PM. |
