Anyone encounter the water mob yet (squid)? I didn't realize it wasn't aggressive, and got a heck of a shock when I had the game on peaceful and there were a pack of them when I went swimming.

Yeah, in peaceful they spawn but can't attack you.
 In easy, normal and hard, after one hit they will attack, much like Zombie Pigmen in the Nether. One thing I noticed though, in my existing world (that I started in Alpha 1.2.6) I don't see any, except if I go far from my home, into unexplored territory.

Huh, I think it may be the same for me. The 1st time I saw them was in water I was newly exploring and there was no sign in areas I had been before (started my game in Alpha as well).

Huh. Probably a Beta thing. Lemme start a new world quick and see what I can see.
Yup, I saw a 'herd' of squid as soon as I spawned. Another thing I noticed, once you kill the things, they don't seem to respawn in the same area for a loooooooong time, if at all. On a different note, I found my first Lapis Lazuli today! Kinda (sorta) taking a break from HSers. Check out Toraili, a group effort by me and I Hate Atlaga.
