BrickWars / Legowars - Lego Miniature Game

Knowing how many people here have been or still are Lego fans, I am wondering if anyone here has ever played BrickWars. There is an OpenSource PC Game too, but I was wondering if anyone ever played with the Lego figures in a more organized ruleset than just "Huy-yah take that" and "Pew-Pew-Pew!". I know they just release some Lego Games, but the cool thing about brickwars is that it is a fan made ruleset where you can make your own 3D maps with line of sight and height come into play. There is a QuickWars (think basic) and Core Rules (think master) but browsing over the rules online (HTML or PDF) it seems slightly more complicated than Heroscape (you are supposed to measure movement and range in inches not lego pegs) but not nearly as hard as Warhammer, Axis & Allies, or numerous other wargames. Plus its Legos! So is this an alternative for people here who will be in Heroscape withdraw?

It's pretty fun, but t takes a long time to set up, and 15 minutes later, everybody's Legos explode.

That's the best part of legos

I gotta try this game out sometime though

Interesting. Although I don't understand why the studs aren't used as a unit of measurement. Studs make perfect sense, since you can't build by "half-studs".

Hmmm. I can see an army of minifigures headed by Hulk or Captain America...


As for the game, I downloaded the rulebook a while back, but I lost it somehow... I'll have to get it again...

We use a "brickruler." A four or eight 2x4 brick built together in two layers. Makes the perfect measuring tool.

Interesting. I have long been trying out different forms of the concept, and am, in fact, actually working on a Halo project similar to this.
