5-year-old Blind Piano Prodigy - Have Tissues Ready!
Ladies and gentlemen, grab a handful of tissues and watch as a tiny blind girl not only plays songs that she's only heard once, she plays accompaniment, AND she can sing while playing. For those of you who aren't musically inclined, singing while playing complicated music is extremely difficult.
She is the Korea's Star King, with the highest score ever on this Korea Idol spin-off. VIDEO For the record, I could probably beat her at HeroScape. Just saying. Re: 5-year-old Blind Piano Prodigy - Have Tissues Ready!
Beethoven was deaf, and not till his later life. Stevie Wonder (who can play a number of instruments besides the piano) or Ray Charles would be a more fitting example.
That video was incredible. Not only is she playing things that are can be considered moderate to hard pieces, she's playing them with a five year old's hand. The piano is such a difficult instrument for children because they don't have the weight or strength to get the same kinds of dynamics an adult can get easily. The smallness of their hands is also a large stumbling block to over come. And that little girl just subconsciously adjusted to be able to pull those songs off. Yes, she made mistakes, but for a five year old, with no lessons, she's doing pretty dang amazingly. It's kind of funny that they compared her to Mozart since he was only partly responsible for his child prodigy days. He had the talent and brain for it, to be sure, but the reason it was developed so much was because of his task master of a father who constantly pushed him. I really want to see what becomes of this little girl. |

That was phenomenal. I've never seen such a young person with so much musical talent.

Playing the piano is not easy.
Playing difficult music after only hearing it once is miraculous. Being blind must be a terrible terrible thing to go through in life. A little better than Meh. |

Re: 5-year-old Blind Piano Prodigy - Have Tissues Ready!
I had a friend a long time ago (no longer with us) that could do something similar, if he heard the song once he could play it on the piano. He kept saying "Some day I want to learn how to read music." Of course, he wasn't five, nor blind ... Does 20 and a heroin addict count?
Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.
