Re: The Book of Hela
Was Hela (and Draugr Thrall) playtested with C3V Thralls at all?

Re: The Book of Hela
Yeah, definitely not. Don't remember the C3V Thralls even coming up during the design. Probably none of us knew about em.

Re: The Book of Hela
I mean I knew about them, but like I had no reason to mention them since C3G and C3V don't care about each other's stuff.
Honestly, I think Hela and the C3V Thralls would probably work fine together without being broken. Now Nick and the C3G Thrall on the other hand might get wonky. I'd have to double check Nick's card on that. EDIT: C3V Nick, not like.. Nick Fury EDIT EDIT: So Nick could bring back a Draugr Thrall, but he has no 'remove all wound markers' type lingo. So the Draugr would immediately die again unless it had been auto-destroyed or something. Re: The Book of Hela
There were a few tests for the World's Finest Master Set where we ran valhalla stuff and some public testers did a few times after that. To my knowledge, C3V (which I love and respect deeply as a group) has never been ran as a part of any C3G test, nor would I want it to be (nor would I want anything from Valhalla to be at this point - we have 954 units of our own and counting - so, no need!).
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Hela
Ok good to know. In the past (up until Wave 5 when I last made my last C3G card compilation) I mixed C3G, C3V/SoV, and classic scape all the time and did not see any OP combinations. But yeah with nearly 1000 C3G units would be hard to playtest (or even theorysape) everything together.

Re: The Book of Hela
I think the thing to look out for, more than OP combinations (though I'm sure there could be some fun edge cases there), would be that C3G balances around a different metagame than classic/VC stuff. Some stuff on classic units might feel unreasonably hard on super-valuable hero units, and some C3G powers might feel unnecessarily punishing against squads.

Re: The Book of Hela
Generally, I've had fun playing Mixed games - the balance is good enough that it's eminently fun and playable. Some figures actually become more balanced - Q9's not quite as terrifying when you have superheroes around.
Ronin makes a good point, though one thing I like about it is that it has, in my experience, a better squad/hero balance than either alone, for my tastes. Heroes can now actually compete with squads, and are marginally more important (as in an all-hero army is viable, whereas all-squads, not so much), but squads are still a viable part of the landscape. They'll likely get slaughtered by god-tier units in their droves, but for their cost, they still perform well. One thing I will say is that I've not seen any OP combos. Even infamous ones like Wolverine + Death Knights are honestly no worse than synergy teams C3G puts out - I don't feel like Batson Captain Marvel leading the Knights of Weston is an inherently better team for him than the Justice League, for example. |

Re: The Book of Hela
My personal favorite mixed army in recent years has been Kang II loaded up with historical characters he's pulled from the time stream. Way back in the day, I was really fond on Colossus + Rats. The little guys are far more tolerable when you use them as Fastball ammo instead of screens.
