Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
I feel like agreeing to use Kaiju on the Godzilla cards and then not using it as the synergy point is kinda a slap in the face to SW. When we only used it so we could call it out as a synergy point.

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
I'm not totally sure what SW has to do with this, no other Kaiju/Godzilla design has gone through the system already outside of Mecha afaik, and its not a Kaiju, so it's not like things can't be changed on to be designed units, but I haven't been following the discussion on all this stuff.
Don't really have much of a preference really as long as whatever synergy is desired, is enabled. |

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
Kong is a “Godzilla card” the way Batman is a Superman card. Like if this were Mothra or Ghidorah or something that’d be different, but Kong just isn’t in the same universe of Godzilla in the same way as those other characters.
So I think Simian and Kaiju are both justifiable here. I support the LD either way. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
This design is sick and feels like he could tussle with Godzilla!
Semi-Retired C3G Hero (and first Official Member of the C3G Target Audience!) The correct way to add C3G playtests to posts. My favorite day EVER on heroscapers. Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
Having Mothra (and Godzilla, like Ronin has him) just be general “Team Huge” characters sounds like fun to me!

C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: King Kong (Event) Army Test Map: City Park. Units: King Kong(1000) & Wasp(50) vs Mecha-Godzilla(900) & Amuro Ray(150) [1050].
Spoiler Alert!

Spoiler Alert!
___________________________________________________________ Army Test Map: City Park. Units: King Kong(1000) vs Godzilla(1000) [1000].
Spoiler Alert!
___________________________________________________________ THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Feels a little strong as he pretty much has every tool at his disposal. I would drop the healing, it feels unnecessary and off theme. GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Mecha-Godzilla felt way over matched. His only chance was to flip early which is unlikely. Godzilla had to use the terrain around him and win initiative to pull off a victory. King Kong has great movement, map control, auto-wounding, healing and big attacks. |

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
Eric's about to post our results, but I have some quick feedback for my point.
Kong is really tough right now. He's straight murder to mid-level heroes. I think he's beatable. But right now I think you need to have the dice in your favor to beat him. With even dice, I think he wins 8-9 times out of ten. So I think a small tweak is probably in order. I probably wouldn't mess with the power mechanics other than individual numbers. Options I think could help (I'd do ONE of these, not more): 1. Reduce life by one 2. Reduce healing by one 3. Reduce attack by one 4. Reduce defense by one I think any of those gives the opponent more of a prayer. If his healing were completely eliminated in our games, he would've lost one of them and won the second with one life left. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: King Kong Version tested:
Spoiler Alert!
Army Test Map: Custom Map Units: King Kong VS 100 pts Outsiders – Batman, Geoforce, Halo, Katana, Black Lightning
Spoiler Alert!
___________________________________________________________ Army Test Map: . Units: 1000 pts – King Kong VS 1000 pts - Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Silver Surfer 400, Iceman 150
Spoiler Alert!
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: 1000 points seems low for what is going on here. The design isn't way off but needs a change or two. Totally felt like a one figure army. And felt like playing with King Kong. GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: I really like this take on King King but he's just a little overpowered. He went 2 and 0 in his matches, the final results in each game make it look closer than it really was. Everything is strong on him. His attack with buff is strong, his defense reduction and auto wound possiblity are strong, his movement leap/toss toss combo is strong and his extra turn/healing x-marker power is strong. I think there are a number of ways to adjust him to get him closer to 1000 points. You could drop his life to 10, or his normal attack to 4. The adjustment I'd like to see is to not allow the x-marker power to be used until he's at half life, whether that's 5 or 6 wounds I don't know, I think it slows him down in rounds 1 and 2 a little. Or have the x-marker heal or give an extra turn. In both games he killed 2 figures in round one. At that point it already feels like game over. He's not in need of a redesign but just needs a tweak or two to be perfect. |

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
@Arch-vile
@IAmBatman
@Tornado
@Ericth74
Thanks everyone for the quick tests!
Ok, after looking at the results. We're looking at: Very close loss. (Arkham) Very close loss. (Arkham) Very close win. (Bats/Eric) Close win. (Arkham) Close win. (Bats/Eric) Close-Medium win. (Arkham) Close-Medium loss. (Arkham) Close-Medium loss. (Tornado) Medium win. (Arkham) Medium loss. (Arkham) Medium win. (Arkham) Medium-Big win. (Tornado) Medium-Big win. (Tornado) He's gone 8-5. Wins slightly more heavy than the losses, at least for Tornado. Taking everyone's feedback and suggestions, how would we feel about raising his Life by 1 or 2(from 12 to 13 or 14), and dropping the healing? Given the healing would typically get at least 2-3 rounds of usage, resulting in an extended life of 4-6 at least, that should equate to a -2/4 life overall, at least, and even more if the game were to have run longer. Preference? |

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
I think Eric and I only healed 2 wounds a game in ours. Though the results were close, Kong always felt like he had the upper hand. If you dropped healing, which I’d support, I’d probably only go up one life.

Re: The Book of King Kong (Event Hero) (Public Playtest)
I also like option C as it stops him from being quite so murderous early on against midlevel Unique Hero paper armies.
