Civilization IV problems

so I went to go try and play a game online with someone and when I got to the lobby place it said I had to download a patch so I did and when it went to install the patch it said it couldn't and now when I try to play civ it won't let me because it can't find D3DX9_32.DLL and Re-installing might help but when I try to un install it, it won't let me. A person on another site suggested that I update direct x so i did but when I try to open civ it shows a new error message that says that BOOST_PYTHON-VC71-MT-1_32.DLL can't be found. What do I do now to fix this? After I get this straightend out this topic can become general discussion about the game because I couldn't find one.

The D3DX9_32.DLL certainly means you need to update to the latest version of DirectX. I hit that with a game the other day, updated and was good to go.

I'm wondering if your uninstall of Civ IV got partially done and you're missing some files. I'd try to reinstall if it has a repair option or something... I honestly don't recall.

I have already updated direct x but the other error message is still there. And when I try to un install there is no repair option, only remove. This is the error that comes up when I try to uninstall.
