Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I won't be surprised if the cost goes up from there, since he's potentially got healing factor for a 20-60 point investment. It does mean he's healing in place of using basically a double attack, though, if he were to use offensive spells instead.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Neat! I don't know this character at all so I can't comment on theme.
For the first ability, what's the point of giving him any species (etc...) while DRAFTING? I don't use spells all that often so I could be missing something. He already has Magical Defense which is the only prerequisite for drafting, as far as I thought. Also as of now if a spell gets a bonus against a certain species or something, he'd also get that species. Not sure the full intent here or if that's a good or bad thing. Everything else seems cool, give or take a few wording things. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I know the special powers bit gives him full access to Tarot spells.

He also won't get wounded from Hellfire spells.
I think there is a spell that gives a bonus to Warlocks too. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
He already has no wounds from spells built into the ability. And I get the bonuses while casting, I'm mainly wondering about the drafting aspect, since that's all the current wording covers!

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Yes. He could cast Lord of the Flies twice which is an instead of moving spell. He sounds like he would fit right in with team Khaos.

No he can't since he only has the Warlock class while drafting.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I think Tarots are the only ones impacted by the drafting bit right now. I think in general that mechanic is probably cuttable. I'd be tempted to keep drafting restrictions untouched and just keep in the no wounds thing.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I'm not opposed to fixing that, or looking for a better way to implement it. The goal with it was just being able to draft and cast all magic because he is supposed to be the big bad in that sector for DC.
The not taking wounds was me eliminating the downside of hellfire spells because one of his story points that led to Zatanna defeating him is that he is free from the cost (sacrifice in DC) of magic. The current wording was my attempt at bypassing any drafting restrictions in the future. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Would it be better to go to something like:
TRUE MAGIC Upside-down Man ignores any additional requirements to cast or draft a spell card. Upside-down Man never receives wounds from spells he casts. While Upside-down Man is on the battlefield, whenever a Spell Card would be removed from the game, you may instead place it underneath this card. |
