I'm fairly certain they do... I think it's only 'do not roll' powers that could negate them.

Well, whether he can attack with 0 die or not, this is still a very cool result from the design.

Plus he'd be even more fun teamed with Cyborg II.

MASTER MARTIAL ARTIST
When attacking an opponent's adjacent figure with a normal attack, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled. When defending against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled, and all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure.

SWORDPLAY

If Rai attacks an adjacent figure with his normal attack and at least one skull is rolled, he may attack an adjacent figure again. He may continue attacking adjacent figures, rolling 1 fewer attack die for each subsequent attack, until you fail to roll a skull.

PROTECTOR OF NEW JAPAN
After attacking with Rai, if he is no longer engaged you may reveal an X Order Marker on this card. Remove 1 wound marker from this card and then you may immediately place Rai on any unoccupied space within 8 spaces of Rai that is adjacent to at least one opponent's figure.

Another good point. Which makes sense. I know I once contemplated creating a DO that had Zero Defense but received 3 Auto Shields. My thoughts were for that particular object there was no variance to how it resisted damage.

Personally I think it makes sense to allow a 0 roll + 1 auto-skull

Anyway that design is looking pretty neat- simple, elegant, but definitely not someone you want to come up against in melee

That is the intent, yes. Keep him moving from fight to fight. This layout would definitely make him a monster in Melee, but could definitely be brought down decently quick with some range, especially multi attacking range.

Here's another one I've been throwing around, antagonist to Peter and the rest of the Renegades:

IMPERIUM
At the start of the game, choose up to 4 Unique Heroes that do not share species you control and place a black Imperium Marker on each of their cards. While a figure has an Imperium Marker on its card, its class is Enforcer instead of what is listed on the card. Harada and all Enforcers you control are always considered to be in clear sight of each other. After attacking with Harada, you may immediately move up to 2 Enforcers you control 4 spaces.

HARBINGERíS WILL
An opponent may never take temporary or permanent control of friendly figures in clear sight of Harada. If an opponent chooses Harada for any special power and rolls the 20-sided die, you may subtract 3 from the roll. Whenever a special power on an Army Card or glyph refers to the Mental Shield special power, it refers to this special power as well.

TELEKINETIC DESTRUCTION SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 2. Attack 3+
If a figure takes at least one wound from Telekinetic Destruction, Harada may attack the figure one additional time, adding one automatic skull for each wound inflicted.

PSIONIC REDIRECTION
Once per round, if Harada is attacked and at least 1 skull is rolled, you may reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card. If you do, choose a new figure as a target for the attack. If no figure is available, the attack is ignored.

Funny that 2 designs have been posted today with discussion of Enforcer synergy. Psionic Redirection seems extremely powerful because you can tank the weaker hits and wait until your opponent rolls a whole bunch of skulls, then redirect that attack at the opponent. Maybe it would work better if you had to do it before attack dice are rolled? Is he controlling the opponent to attack their allies or is he reflecting the attack?

Definitely an attack reflection. He's been shown on multiple occasions to completely redirect bullets at another target, or even the original shooter. I could see the redirection being limited to ranged attacks, but I don't know that that would necessarily ease that concern.

Harbinger's Will feels a little strong to me - it's kind of a hard shut-down against armies that lean on figure control. Maybe not too concerning on an Event Hero, though.

The theme on Imperium doesn't come through really strongly for me - any chance you could fill me in on what this guy's MO is?
