Hey, I'm talking to you too!

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Ant-Man - Designing

Ant Man often uses winged ants as mounts. If the leap thing doesn´t work out, how about giving him flying, if he starts his turn adjacent to any ants?

Hey, where did you come from?

I was thinking about at some point designing a Flying Ant Mound that can give carry to any Tiny figure. Even if we scrap the leap power, I would still want to hold onto that idea for the future.

Re: The Book of Ant-Man - Designing

I think a leap still makes sense for him (and will really be needed to keep him functional on a lot of maps), just more like a leap of 2/3 spaces and 8-12 elevation.

I would leap at the chance to make it a 3/12 leap.

  2. I lost my file this morning, so I had to rewrite a lot of this stuff. And in that rewrite, I forgot to lose the level 50 aspect. It was meant to be 12. So distance of 6 and height of 12. Is that better, or should we tweak that even more?
Yes he leaps, but the most that I have ever seen him leap vertically is high enough to punch a man under the chin and horizontally only a few feet. I haven't seen anything in Wiki or Marvel Comic Database or The Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe that would suggest that he has any kind of leaping power/ability. They consistently say that he retains his "normal-sized" strength when he is in shrunken state, thus being able to leap to punch a man in the chin or slightly higher or leap a few feet as he would in full size form, just like anyone of us might.

That's as much as I'm going to say about it, as I don't want to argue about it. It's just my opinion for what it's worth and I will support whatever direction the group wants to go.
I was strongly under the impression that the guy could leap... I will research it more and ask Spidey as well.

Your last comment is confusing and alarming to me. I never thought for a second that we were "arguing" or heading that way. Have I given that impression? I will support the group as well, as I always have, but I don't want you to shut down either. Right now, your the only guy talking to me about the design. You care about the character and I think that is important. Don't be so sensitive dude, because I want to keep this dialog going.
I wasn't being sensitive and I know you weren't arguing or we weren't arguing. I'm just saying that I don't want to argue about things, that's all. Not that we were but sometimes I get to into something and I try too hard to make my case in time when it isn't necessary, that's all.

Well I want you to be happy with the write up, that is important to me. So seriously, how do you feel about it now? I still have my red pen out.

Re: The Book of Ant-Man - Designing

Well I think that if we are going to save a flying/carrying power for flying ants for him or any Tiny figure (which is cool), then this reduced leap is good direction. It's kind of hard to pretend a mini that is the same size as others is actually a lot smaller and with the movement on this terrain and for playability, he has to be able to get places on his own. So this Leap is cool and will help him get height advantage sometimes so he can get a better attack. But it's really about playability

Re: The Book of Ant-Man - Designing

A leap of 12 would be roughly equivalent to 14.5 feet. Is that within the theme of his leaping ability? Can he get from the sidewalk into a second story window, for example?

I know that I do not know.

Well I know that in normal human size he can't jump that high as he's just a regular guy, maybe a decent athlete. But since he retains his normal sized strength while in shrunken size, perhaps that normal strength can propel his little body a little further since it has much less mass. While I can't for sure say he could jump that hight, I also say for sure that couldn't jump that high. There's nothing that says he has any kind of leaping ability per se, but I've seen him leap up and punch a guy, or shrink down and seem to be able to spring pretty good off a table to punch a guy.

Sir G, have you read many comics with Ant Man? Or has Spidey?

I told Griff that if we kept it as is, it might be kind of a gameplay over total theme for that power. I could also imagine it being him getting a lift from a flying insect.
