That's official & we are C3G. We have already hashed this out with designs in the sanctum. Pterodactyl by your logic is also a dinosaur so really spiders should have been animals by that same logic.

This is not true. While a Pterodactyl would indeed be classified as a dinosaur by his logic Spiders would not be classified as an animal.

If that were the case so too would the Pterodactyl.

You are confusing your order of biological taxonomy.

• order
• suborder
• superfamily
• family

Mega is talking about taking Spiders (an order) and calling it arachnids (a class) just like Pterodactyl (an order) should be changed to Dinosaur (a superorder)


Dinosaur is only known as a superorder because we in society like to separate Dinosaurs from the rest of the Reptiles (the class).




However what you are suggesting is that mega is comparing these things to Animals which is a Kingdom and a whole load of orders of magnitude higher than he is talking about.

Class Arachnid encompasses all Spiders and Scorpions.

Class Insecta encompasses all Insects.

Claude Dinosauria encompasses all Dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus is a Dinosaur.

Claude Ornithodira/Order Ptersauria encompasses mainly Pterosaurs. Pterodactyl belongs in this group. (Using Pterosaur would work best for him, IMO.)

I think Mega sees the point, but just wanted to offer up suggestions in case we all wanted to keep to a standard. Whether that be our own standard or the standard already set by classic scape.

We were just pointing out that as of right now there is no standard set. At present we just kind of randomly select a "species" from any of the taxonomic choices.

No. We've set a very clear standard on this one, and I communicated it to you all previously in a post. Whether you all choose to believe me or not seems to be a matter of some controversy.

Pterodactyls are not Dinosaurs; they are just commonly grouped with them. Pterasaurs are not Dinosaurs, just like Arachnids are not Insects.

So, I guess I am saying that according to me. Because I'm a Bio Major and calling the Pterodactyl a Dinosaur is just as off-putting as some calling a Arachnid an insect. You can Google it too.
