Re: C3G Battle Reports
Slashers are definitely a fun army to run. Make sure you bring Pinhead along to lead them.
As Arch-Vile said, they can be a lot to keep on top of in terms of remembering everything(primarily Jason and Michael's triggers when an opponent takes their turn) when played together, so make sure to read all the cards a couple times and perhaps go a little slower at first just to ensure you aren't forgetting anything. Jason is your lockdown figure. Use his passive movement to engage figures, and his Relentless Slasher roll if they stay engaged at the end of their turn to keep him from being ignored. Leatherface is cheap fodder to push up and deal some decent wounds before being taken out. He's also among the easiest to bring back to life with Pinhead's Hellraiser revival. Chucky is a nice auto-wounder that can piggy back off one of your Slashers, and can be a menace himself to take down. Michael can usually land some unblockables before being taken out, and his One Good Scare once per game revival is a nice way to deliver on said unblockables and force the opponent to have to deal with him again. Freddy is probably the trickiest and swingiest of them all. He's nice for auto-wounds, but if pulled onto the board, he needs to get a kill or get out of there. Sam is a nice support figure for the faction. He and Leatherface are both 95 points, so if you're building a 1000 point army of all Slashers, one of the two will sit out, so pick whichever fits your desired playstyle or counters the opponent's army better. Pinhead acts as the leader, offering potential multi-turns, as well as possibly reviving his allies. You want him up close to the frey, to make sure to get those wounds healing off his allies. His Hooked Chains can be quite deadly too. All around, they are a team based on auto-wounding, reactionary abilities, tricky to eliminate permanently, and multiple threats you don't want to ignore. |

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Well, after an eight year break I finally got a group together and played a game of C3G. I have still been getting a lot of the figures over the years, but to make that I did not overload my group with hundreds of new units, I only included everything up to Wave 2. With the official Marvel units, that comes out to 51 units. I simply shuffled the cards and dealt everyone the same amount of cards. I set the army cap at 1000pts. Here were the armies:
Gamerhusband Superman (I) 400 Wolverine 280 Flash (Barry Allen) 250 5th Precinct Beat Cops 65 Player 2 Two-Face (I) 130 Spiderman 160 Silver Surfer 320 Doomsday 390 Player 3 Captain America 220 Doctor Doom 245 Green Arrow 150 Huntress 170 Venom 150 5th Precinct Beat Cops 65 The game started with Silver Surfer and Wolverine exchanging a few blows. Green Arrow then came out and put a lot of damage on Wolverine by rolling a 19 with his "Skill Shot". Doomsday then charged across the board and went after Player 3. The game then turned into a 3 way pileup in front of Player 3 starting zone. I brought over the Flash, but he kind of waffled. He killed Green Arrow, but was quickly squashed by Doomsday, Huntress, and Captain America. "Speed Dodge 4" never really worked. Superman then came up and smashed Doomsday. I think the big mistake was taking out Doomsday early. The next few rounds were spent by Superman trying to take out the rest of Player 2's army before Doomsday was able to return with "Evolutionary Regeneration". Doomsday was able to return a few rounds later. I managed to kill everyone in Player 2's army but Spiderman. I was so busy trying to destroy Player 2 that I neglected Wolverine. He got smashed by Doctor Doom when I left him for a round with only and X marker on him. The game ended with a 3 player pile up once again. Doomsday finished off that was left of Player 3. Player 3 was able to delay his demise for round or so by using is 5th Precinct Beat Cops. Then the final battle was Superman vs. Doomsday. With Doomsday able to cancel "Man of Steel", Superman fell pretty fast. (Very thematic by the way) It was a great welcome back to the game. The regeneration powers of Wolverine and Doomsday really drive the actions of the players. Also I forgot how crazy the massive dice throw down of the heavy hitters can be. It looks like we should be playing this for the next month or so(fingers crossed). To make it a little more interesting for the group, I am going to start each game by adding 5 new units to add to our current pool of 51 units. Also if you win the game you get to pick a figure from C3G collection to add as well. Player 2 ended up picking Quicksilver. So each week is going to start with 6 new units added to the pool. To close this battle report, I want to give Hero award for the best unit of the week and Zero award for the worst unit. Hero "Doomsday" Total driving force of this game. Used all his powers effectively during the course of the game. Killed Superman right at the end game in perfect comic book fashion. Zero "Flash" Did not really live up to any of this potential. Killed Green Arrow with "Fusillade Special Attack", but it took to many rounds to complete. Never got his "Speed Dodge 4" to work so with only 4 life, he fell fast. In his defense I should of played him better. |

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Love it! Also hilarious awards you give Doomsday and Flash. Ask ANYONE here and they would have assumed the opposite! Sounds like a great time.

Very cool!

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Yep, but sometimes that's just how the dice fall. That's one of the best parts of this game, almost anyone can be good or bad if your dice are hot/cold.

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Well, we had another game of C3G Heroscape last week. This time, it was only a two player game. Last week we had 51 units of C3G to choose from. We have all been away from C3G for so long, we are starting with the original figures and adding a few figures each week. This week we added Black Mask, Daredevil, Sinestro, Punisher, and Harley Quinn to the list eligible of units. We also let the winner of last weeks game pick any currently released C3G figure they wanted to add to our groups "eligible list." Our winner picked Quicksilver. So now we have 57 units to pick from. We shuffled the cards and dealt half the stack to each player. We played played 1200pts armies on the BOV map Arctic Divide. Below is what we ended up playing.
Gamer Husband Beast 170 Punisher 210 Quicksilver 215 Deadpool 285 Batman (I) 200 Pyro 120 Player 2 Mystique(I) 165 Silver Surfer (Hasbro) 320 Thanos (Hasbro) 360 Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) 350 This game was pretty one sided. I got pretty well destroyed by the trio of Thanos, Silver Surfer and Green Lantern(Hal Jordan). Mystique(I) never even moved during the game. I was able to destroy Thanos by midgame, but “Rejected by Death” brought him back in just a few round the spelled curtains for me. To just to highlight a few units, I have to say I really liked using the Punisher. Lots of options for him. “Armor Piercing Rocker Special Attack”, is really effective against heavy hitters. It really cut through Thanos’s defense. Quicksilver’s “Whirlwind Vortex Special Attack” was useful as well. Really liked concept of executing this attack correctly. I usually got a 6 or 7 attack every time. Deadpool was pretty solid with 2 attacks per turn and healing factor. This game also saw us use Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) for the first time since our C3G return. My teammate liked him. Deadpool did manage to removed 2 battery markers before endgame. I have always loved the Lanterns battery marker concept. Player 2 was victorious so as the rule goes in our game group you get to pick any C3G design that has been released and bring that unit into our group of eligible units. Player 2 picked Doctor Strange. In closing, below are once again, the “Hero” and “Zero” for this game. Hero Thanos: “Rejected by Death” says it all. It cost me both Punisher and Quicksilver to finish off Thanos the first time. After one round he came back, and I had nothing left to throw at him. Pyro went after him, but was ineffective and was “extinguished” quickly. Zero Beast: Did nothing in the game at all. His “Negotiation “ was never a relevant option in this game. Thanos killed him with a single attack during the first round after he returned to the game via “Rejected by Death”. I had planned to move him, but he was killed right before his turn. |

Re: C3G Battle Reports
Beast is situationally good. Whirlwind Assault is hard to set up when playing without a lot of squads and Negotiation can be avoided if tried, but sometimes he's just insane.
