Visions
Visions - A Heroscape Fanfic
By Marro_Warlord "Aarrgh!" I hear him screaming. It was him again. Raknar, our Kyrie, The Prophet, always screaming about his visions. "HE'S GOT ME!" I listen to the shrill sound of his voice. "THE PAIN! AAGRAH!" Suddenly, the air fills with an eerie silence. "Is he dead?" I wonder. Oh no, I've got to help that him, he might not survive. I shove myself out of my bed and onto the floor of my shack. Quickly, I open the wooden door, admiring my craftsmanship in its wooden branches. Hastily, I dash across the dirt-paved road and into the village center. Raknar's hut is ahead. "It's Raknar!" Another Kyrie shouts. The whole village is rousing themselves like usual, Raknar's visions are common happenings. Finally, I stand there, at the entrance to Raknar's hut. I'm panting from exhaustion, but I can muster enough strength to cast his door aside. I amble in, and he is lying there, sprawled out between his bed and the door, his red and blue blankets in hand. "No," I whisper, "It cannot be." I kneel and grasp his hand. Almost instantly, I pull away. His hand is chilled to the bone. "Raknar?" I hear from behind me, "Concan, is he alright?" I turn around and look at the figure of Safrons, a Sentinel of the Village Watch. "Concan!" He demands, "Does he need Kelda?" "What?" I say, "Um, yes, yes he does need Kelda. Go. Now." "On it." He replies, "I will awake her now." I turn back to Raknar, his face pale, like a figure he described in his visions, Cyprien, I believe his name was. I hear long, shuddering breaths from Raknar. "No, Raknar, no! Raknar, please, please, don't leave me!" I beg for him, and all the Kyrie in our village. As if answered, his eyes flicker open for a second, as he chokes out words. "It was him..." Raknar coughs and sputters, but continues, "The mindshackler..." He is almost inaudible, his raspy voice straining to continue. "He will steal all the great heroes here..." Raknar closes his eyes, "Unless..." "Unless what?" I cry, "Raknar, No! Speak to me, Raknar, speak!" Tears stream down my cheeks. "No! Not another one! We've lost so many to the great war, we cannot lose an innocent! "Concan? Are we too late? Did we not make it?" Kelda speaks. She has finally arrived. I stare up at her face, I see her, holding back tears. "I..." I stammer, "I don't know. Hopefully." "Concan,"She says, "He will make it." She reaches her hand down to me and embraces me into a warm hug. She whispers soothing words into my ear. "He will make it." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember her now, she caring for him, she never gave up. I remember, sitting on the bench outside Raknar's hut, with her. We worked diligently together, trying desperately to heal Raknar, who was on the brink of death. The night before he died, she said this, "We cannot do many things, but can always do one thing, hope." Those words inspired me, but it was not enough to save Raknar. We will never know what "Unless..." Meant. A week later, we became fully involved in the great war. Kelda signed up quickly to fight. 3 days later, a large bag came in, holding the body of Kelda. All they told me was when they brought her back was, "She died valiantly, saving her comrades to the bitter end." Why couldn't there be a sweet end? Why does everything end so badly? That night I cried. We lost Raknar, and now Kelda. Our village was losing Kyrie faster than ever. There were at least 3 body bags coming in per day. Life was such a bittersweet tale, with always, a sweet beginning, and a bitter end. 5 days later, I received a note in the mail. There were many words scrawled in dark ink across the parchment: "Darkness Coming. The hordes are coming. Prepare yourselves. To save us from the Wellsprings and Utgar, you've been drafted to serve, but we must recruit others from new worlds to defend Valhalla. Signed - General Jandar" THE END (For now! ) What did you think? Feel free to leave feedback! Oops, rolled a 1. Last edited by Marro_Warlord; November 18th, 2014 at 03:14 PM. Reason: Typos |

Re: Visions
So that was Raknar's Vision. I wonder if Orm will return too. Sounds like the beginning of a great adventure, Marro_Warlord--can't wait to see where it ends up!
Is this your first fanfic? If it's something you're into, you could try checking out the Fanfic competition. The more writers the merrier. ~TAF, happy to see another good fic on the site. TAF was the Storyteller... in THE ENEMY'S LAST RETREAT |

Re: Visions
Welcome to the Forum! Looking good, minus a few grammar issues. But then, I'm a grammar freak, so no worries.
It'd be great to have some more fan fiction in here. And along those lines - if you do another fan fiction, will it be in this thread, or will it be in a separate one? I just need to know for indexing purposes. ~TGRF. P.S. TAF, Raknar's vision is actually explained in Q9's bio. |
