"The figure receives one wound"

Hey again. Just totally thought of this.... Sonlen's dragon swoop.. Cyprien's chilling touch... when you roll the 20 sided die and decide if the figure does indeed receive a wound... does he get to roll for defense on them? The way I was playing they did not. Thanks!

Yes, all "receives X wounds" effects are not blockable - they just happen.

Also, for future reference. When the card states. "recieves a wound" any special abilities on the card that can block a wound are activated. Like the Microcorps Agents. "When the figure recieves one or more wounds, before removing the figure roll the D20..." And Acolarh's ability to prevent his elves from dieing will also work.

However. When the card states "destroy the chosen figure" then the figure is instantly destroyed. There is no wound markers involved so those abilities do not activate. Like Braxis' or Seduma's abilities.

Be careful with this line of thought though. Stuff like the Microcorp agents (and I think Acolarh's aura) are among the very few defensive abilities that work against just about any wounds, yet most defensive powers trigger off of attacks.

Which is why the Microcorp are so ridiculously cool.

(Well, except for that whole 2 attack from low ground thing...)

This helps a bit:

Shields do not block wounds. Shields block Skulls. Unblocked Skulls become wounds. Wounds themselves are otherwise completely unrelated to combat dice.
