The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle)
The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) C3G MARVEL WAVE 49 COSMIC WARS ![]() Comic PDF ![]() Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the 2021 Convention Exclusive set. Its model name is #MP20-002 / Ghost Rider (Cosmic Ghost Rider). _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - During the heroes of Earth's last stand against Thanos, the Punisher was hit in the head by the debris of a building the Hulk was thrown into and died, his soul being subsequently sent to Hell. Willing to give anything in order to punish Thanos for slaughtering his planet, the Punisher signed a demonic deal with Mephisto and became the latest Ghost Rider. When he returned to Earth, however, Thanos was already gone and everything on the planet was dead. The Ghost Rider spent the next countless years alone, roaming endlessly and undying with no one to kill or love. After even Mephisto fell silent to his calls, he began to lose his mind. When a badly injured Galactus arrived on Earth seeking help against Thanos, unaware that the population of Earth had already been killed by him, the Ghost Rider offered the dead planet to him in exchange for the chance of punishing the Mad Titan as his herald; an offer that the Great Devourer accepted. Together they roamed the cosmos on a quest to halt Thanos' systematic annihilation of every living being in existence, which led them to become legends. Their story lasted centuries, but came to an end once they finally confronted Thanos, who beheaded Galactus as he approached to battle. The undying Rider was offered by Thanos the chance to see more evil than he could punish in a thousand lifetimes, and thus became his servant. At the behest of King Thanos, the Rider used the Time Stone to drag a younger Thanos to the future so he could help his older self in winning the love of Death by killing the Fallen One, the one being who managed to elude him. - Marvel Fandom, 2022 _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

NAME = GHOST RIDER
SECRET IDENTITY = FRANK CASTLE CROSSOVER SYMBOL SPECIES = DEMON UNIQUENESS = EVENT HERO CLASS = HERALD PERSONALITY = INSANE SIZE/HEIGHT = LARGE 6 LIFE = 8 MOVE = 10 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 6 DEFENSE = 7 POINTS = 500 THE POWER COSMIC Before rolling attack or defense dice for Ghost Rider, you may remove any number of unrevealed Order Markers from this card and add that number of skulls or shields to your roll. COSMIC PENANCE STARE Before moving Ghost Rider normally, you may inflict two wounds on an adjacent figure that has 2 or fewer life remaining. CHAINS OF CYTTORAK GRAB After moving and before attacking with Ghost Rider, you may choose a small or medium non-adjacent figure within 4 clear sight spaces whose base is no more than 7 levels above Ghost Rider's height or 7 levels below his base. Place that figure on any empty space adjacent to Ghost Rider. Figures moved this way do not receive any leaving engagement attacks and may not move or be moved until Ghost Rider is no longer adjacent or uses this power again. Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
For the chains, probably want "do not receive" leaving engagement attacks. I'm assuming they can still be moved by other powers (like throws, etc.) just can't move on their own?
Big piece for the insane faction there. I think he and Harley together could get pretty nasty. Seems like he's clocking in at high 400s or higher. I thought you weren't a fan of auto-destroy powers? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Quote:
High 400s is probably right, I could probably switch him to Event Hero pretty easily. He's got both the Power Cosmic and the Spirit of Vengeance. Definitely not a huge fan of auto-destroy powers, but there's not really a better way to represent the Penance Stare, open to ideas. Could do something like this: COSMIC PENANCE STARE Once per game, if an opponent's figure that is within clear sight of Ghost Rider destroys another Unique Hero you control, you may destroy that figure. Gets around some of the swinginess of auto-destroy powers and largely lets the opponent play around it if they want. Could also do something really nasty with unblockables like this: COSMIC PENANCE STARE Whenever an opponent's figure that is within clear sight of Ghost Rider inflicts one or more wounds on a figure you control, you may roll X unblockable attack dice against that opponent's figure, where X is the number of wounds inflicted. |

I also just realized I had dropped his special attack which was his ranged attack so I'll probably drop his attack to 6 and his range to 6 since he still uses rifles.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
I would ape Mister Fantastic or Blob wording more if you don't want them moved at all.
Synergizing with Hugo Strange and Harley does seem a tad strange, so I could see an argument for shifting to Event Hero (and it's thematically justified, IMO). I think I'd combine the two effects you have there so that he's not paying too much for a power he doesn't use (I fear in both cases opponents would be pretty hard pressed not to target Ghost Rider first). COSMIC PENANCE STARE Once per game, if an opponent's figure that is within clear sight of Ghost Rider destroys another figure you control, you may roll X unblockable attack dice against that opponent's figure, where X is the destroyed figure's Life number. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
Does the Cosmic Penance Stare come up more often than the normal one? Feels like the main point of that power is to never work on any named character.
Like, it's one of those things that's very scary... off-panel. Or against some nameless mook. If you're not really vibing with an auto-destroy power I'd consider not doing it. Or making it a before moving thing that only works on mooks so he can get himself away from cheap tie-down. |

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
I could see a Chomp type deal where he just auto destroys commons, yeah.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
I could get behind something like that.
![]() He probably shouldn't be taking LEA normally anyways, but Frank also isn't one to run from a fight so that's a good way to help him get around. |

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider (Frank Castle) - Design
Something like this?
COSMIC PENANCE STARE Before moving Ghost Rider normally, you may inflict one wound on an adjacent figure. EDIT: Alternative take since it is cosmic COSMIC PENANCE STARE Before moving Ghost Rider normally, you may inflict two wounds on an adjacent figure that has 2 or fewer life remaining. |
