Character Bio - Gray Fox, real name Frank Jaeger, was a mercenary and former agent of U.S. Special Forces Unit FOXHOUND. Originally a child soldier, Jaeger was the only operative in FOXHOUND to achieve the codename "Fox," the unit's highest commendation, and was decorated five times.

Fox was Solid Snake's comrade-in-arms and friend during the Outer Heaven Uprising, but his loyalty to renegade commander Big Boss forced him into combat with Snake during the Zanzibar Land Disturbance. He survived his injuries following an intense battle, after which he was forcibly outfitted with a powered exoskeleton and subjected to intensive gene therapy. Fox later confronted Solid Snake as a neutral force during the Shadow Moses Incident, in the guise of the Cyborg Ninja, before dying at the hands of Liquid Snake and Metal Gear REX. (Metal Gear Wiki)

MYSTERIOUS VENDETTA
At the start of the game, choose an opponent. That opponent may choose a Unique Hero they control. If Gray Fox is engaged with that Hero at any point during his turn, he can not attack figures other than that Hero during that turn, if possible.

HIGH FREQUENCY BLADE SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 4 + Special.
Figures subtract 1 from their Defense number when defending against this special attack. After attacking with this special attack, Gray Fox may move up to two spaces then attack one additional time with this special attack, rolling 1 fewer attack die for the second attack.

PARTIAL INVISIBILITY
Gray Fox can move through all figures and is never attacked when leaving an engagement. If Gray Fox is not engaged with an opponent's figure, he cannot be targeted by opponents' non-adjacent figures for any attacks or any special powers that require clear sight.

Ideas: Something that looks like the MGS1 environments would be perfect. Grabbed a couple ideas.

Start with the Black Tarantula mini.


Clip off the gun (I used fingernail clippers) and clip off the mini's nose. Paint the whole body navy blue. Then paint the head a light grey (I used dolphin grey) and paint on his arm protectors.


Paint the shoulders, upper back, lateral hips, and anterior ankles a bronze color. I mixed together gold and a tan color to get a tone that looked right. Paint a circle of red in between his eyes. Then use a thin line of grey for the eye slits.

He's got units he doesn't like to see in the opponent army, and units that don't want to see him. Forcing him to attack Blob/Superman/Spider-Man types would be a good counter play if you happen to have one on hand. While having someone with a minor evade type of power designed to avoid multi-attackers like Domino/HQ/Nightwing on your team will mean the move aspect of those powers aren't going to be all that useful. Interesting army build options spring to mind, you can go Hand Ninja and give him some fodder or try to heal/repair him in a Cyborg themed army.

Oof, yeah, depending on match up, Singleminded Vendetta could just be a killer in end game. Like if he's up against Batman and Robin (Dick) just choose Batman and then have Robin with Daring Decoy make his life impossible.

Good catch, we could add an "if possible" to Singleminded Vendetta to get around scenarios like that.

Might need something more than just "if possible." It would need to coincide with Daring Decoy.

Design looks fine. I don't see myself drafting him often because that vendetta is quite annoying and out of your control. I don't know the source material outside of Smash Bros, so if it's important to the character, I want to make sure we're thematic.

Swordplay ninja with defense subtraction forgives a lot of shortcomings. I was thinking he looked pretty stacked.

Was re-watching his boss fight on Youtube just now - have you considered switching Infiltration Gear for Partial Invisibility? You do lose that vibe of a ninja flipping around, but invisibility just really has that Metal Gear feel to me, y'know?

I think adding an "if possible" would work with Daring Decoy. If it's not possible to attack his Vendetta, Gray Fox can attack the Daring Decoy figure.

Yeah, I think Gray Fox is pretty stacked even with the Vendetta power. He's a strong character canonically (which reminds me, he deserves Super Strength). Plus with Hand Ninja bonding, he'll be solid.

Partial Invisibility works. He had the stealth camo so it's definitely thematically warranted. It's a bit of a power boost though. I'd up his Move to 7 if we did this to keep his speed up.

I think the High Frequency Blade power needs to be one of those instead of moving and attacking normally SAs. Right now he can move 6 spaces + 3x(adj. attack, then move 2 spaces) = 12 total spaces of movement. That's the Flash levels of speed.
