Recommendations for convention map?
My son is going to be running a Heroscape game at an upcoming gaming convention in February.
We will have two 2.5' x 6' tables pushed together (so 5'x6' total). We are looking for a map that can accomadate up to six players and give a very big WOW reaction when set-up! Can someone recommend a map that uses no more than: 4 Original Master Sets 4 Marro Master Sets 1 Marvel Master Set 2 Castle sets 3 Tundra sets 3 Wasteland sets 4 Road sets at least two of every expansion so far (for the extra tiles) As an alternative, is there a map building program out there that has been updated to include all the different sets? |

Can't go wrong with a lot of height. Any time I've seen an map that's made me say WOW, it's either been big enough to cover my entire living room or it had really high cliffs and/or castle walls.
Keep in mind playability. Though a huge ocean scene would look really cool, it'll really slow the game down when trying to play on it. Good luck at the convention. |

Maps that have a lot of height can also make the game go longer than you want and be a royal pain.

I would recomend finding some good tournament style maps and attaching them to gether.

well the only things I would say is make different "areas" like mountain water, lava, ice, etc. and make a separate map for marvel for quick games and just because I like the combination of marvel and normal scape.

Thanks again for all the responses.
I think I'm going to take Richard D's excellent "King of the Hexagonal Hill" map as a starting point. I really like the symentrical 6 starting zone. My plan is to keep the outer ring (maybe expand depending on how big it is once I build it) and then use my extra sets (castle, wasteland, roads & Tundra) to build even more height in the center island area. Unfortunately since the map is PDF, I will probably just build it instead of using Virtualscape, but we'll see. |
