Pre-Game Thoughts/Preview : Colossus found himself in an earth that wasn't his after being sent through a portal by Rachel Summers. The X-Men here are all Russian, much to Peter's surprise. Professor X is Karl Xanov, Angel is Vasily Vasilevsky, Shadowcat is Katya Privalov. The only truly familiar face is an old foe, Omega Red. However, he fights for the X-Men in this world. Colossus quickly allied himself with this group, and accompanied them in investigating a crashed plane rumored to have been carrying a powerful mutant near the Russia/Finland border. When they arrive, they find no sign of the mutant. However, they spot a notorious criminal ; Wieslaw Fiskov, the Czar of Crime. Sighting his enemies, the Czar commands his personal escort to get rid of his enemies.
The whole idea of the mutant army is Colossus and Omega Red go nuts on anyone dumb enough to get into melee with them. Shadowcat is gonna stand beside Professor X to protect him from any range, and Angel will be between the frontline of the Colossus/Omega Red and the backline of X/Shadowcat so that he can support whoever needs help. Azrael is the scariest target on Kingpin's team, since he's gonna have 7/7 stats between The System Suppression and Kingpin of Crime. The rest of his army has pretty middling stats, but might have the numbers to take out the X-Men.

She moves towards the grass in the center.
Omega does not take a wound from Death Factor.
Round 2 : The Syndicate claim the initiative. OM 1 is Azrael. He moves towards the rear, preparing to fight Omega Red. OM 1 is Prof. X. Omega Red runs towards Azrael and attacks. Both attacks fail to wound. Colossus runs towards Omega, and also attacks Azrael. No wounds. OM 2 is Cheetah. She moves onto the nose of the plane, trying to flank towards the Professor and Shadowcat. The Crooks move forwards, and one attacks Colossus. Big whiff by Colossus, he takes 2 wounds. Cheetah moves through the trees and brush near the mutant spawn with Mugging. OM 2 is Prof. X. Omega Red attacks and kills the Crook adjacent to him, and fails to wound Azrael. Angel moves adjacent to Colossus and Omega Red. OM 3 is Kitana. She moves towards the center and adjacent to Mother Russia. OM 3 is Prof. X. Angel pulls Colossus out of range of Azrael. Red stays on height and attacks two Crooks, kills one of them.
Red takes a wound from Death Factor.
Pre-Round 3 : Azrael places his System Marker. Round 3 : The Syndicate take their second initiative. OM 1 is Azrael. Fails his System Suppression roll, attacks the adjacent Crook with 8 die (+1 from height, System Suppression, and Kingpin of Crime) the crook is extremely dead. OM 1 is Prof. X. Red keeps one space between himself and Azrael then attacks, manages to kill him with 3 wounds on the first attack, and 1 on the second. Chooses not to use Life Force Drain. Angel carries Colossus close to Prof. X, to ward off the nearby Cheetah. OM 2 is Cheetah. She uses Stealth Leap to get up onto the center height, and attacks down onto Angel. She gets a great attack roll, but Prof. X negates with Psychic Defense X. Crooks move forwards onto the center height. OM 2 is Prof X. Red and Colossus collapse onto Cheetah. Red stays one tile away so that he isn't adjacent, deals 2 wounds. Colossus moves adjacent to Cheetah and rolls a big 5 skulls, and Cheetah whiffs! She is absolutely flattened by the big guy. OM 3 is Mother Russia. She moves up onto height, adjacent to the Crooks.
Red takes an autowound.
Round 4 : Mutants take initiative. OM 1 is Prof. X. Red moves into range of a Crook and Mother Russia, kills the Crook but doesn't wound Russia. Colossus gives Red a rough shove as he moves into melee with Russia and the other Crook, but doesn't wound Red. Colossus gets 3 attacks in melee since Red has 2 wounds. Quickly crushes the crook with 2 wounds and deals 3 wounds to Russia. OM 1 is Crooks. The lone surviving Crook is ordered by The Czar of Crime to attack Omega Red, and does so. Fails to wound. OM 2 is Prof. X. Red disengages from the Crook, no wound. He attacks the last Crook and Russia again, a 5 skull attack quickly destroys the Crook, but Russia avoids being damaged by his tendrils. Colossus moves in between Russia and Kitana, takes a wound from Fan Lift. Colossus starts swinging with his 3 attacks (2 wounds on Red), she survives the 1st attack but goes down to the 2nd, taking 2 wounds. Kitana is the target of his last attack, she takes 1 wound. OM 2 is Kitana. She moves up and through Colossus, getting on equal ground with him and attacking. Colossus takes no wounds. OM 3 is Prof. X. Red Moves adjacent to the Crook, is taken out by Red's 2nd attack. Colossus attacks Kitana with 3 attacks, takes a total of 2 wounds. OM 3 was Mother Russia.
No wound onto Omega Red.
Round 5 : Kingpin takes the initiative. OM 1 is Kitana. She is adjacent to Colossus and attacks but doesn't wound. She moves onto the height near the nose of the plane and attacks again, no wounds. OM 1 is Prof. X. Red moves to attack with his range of 2 from the low ground, no wounds. Colossus moves adjacent to Kitana, no wounds from Fan Lift. 3 attacks, deals 2 wounds on the second attack and takes her out.
Kingpin realizes that he has no chance against the X-Men here, and flees to avoid being captured by them to fight another day.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Colossus 3/6 life, Angel 4/4 life, Omega Red 5/7 life, Shadowcat 4/4 life, Professor X 4/4 life
Post-Game Thoughts : This was straight up domination by the mutants. Kingpin's team heavy hitter, Azrael, actively worked against his own team by killing a Crook and dying to Omega Red in one turn. From there, the bash brother duo of Omega Red/Colossus just kept up solid rolls against what was left of the bad guys. Cheetah probably should have helped on the front line against the Russian big boys instead of trying to assassinate the Professor. Kitana put up a decent little fight, but didn't have the stats to take out 1000 points of mutants by herself.
I like Colossus! I admit, when I first read his sheet i was a little hesitant on his value at 300, but it certainly showed in this match. Red/AoA Colossus is pricey for 2 units at 600 points, but they seem to be a very strong base for a mutant army with their synergy. Pairing Colossus up with a single big ally that can take lots of wounds seems to be his best bet for Protective Fury, but I'm gonna try him with some cheaper allies next game.

Pre-Game Thoughts/Preview : The idea of Colossus' army is that Black King is gonna take wounds, getting his stats up and giving Colossus multiple attacks. Havok is to give some light bonding, and ranged area attacks. Spider-Girl will try to tie down any threats, and Yukio is cheap bonding and a Rebel for Colossus. Yukio and B. ROUND 8 : Havok gets the initiative. OM 1, Havok: 1 wound from Havok. OM 1, Deadpool: Deadpool rolls 2 wounds and takes out Havok!
Post Game Thoughts : What a fun game. Insane had an excellent opening, with Joker messing up the plan of "get King in the fight and get some wounds on him". It was really back and forth the whole time, with each team taking the lead at different points. I was worried Colossus was gonna die early after taking 4 wounds, but he had a great showing by demolishing Ivy and Joker. Deadpool is such a great unit for late game, with his healing every turn, and he managed to take the last wound on both Colossus and Black King. Colossus is a lot of fun to use. The balance of wanting allies to take some wounds, but not die is a satisfying tightrope to walk. Although I didn't use Careless Haste, it's not hard to see how it synergizes with his kit.
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Colossus kind of surprised me, I enjoy him more than I expected. I thought he was pretty overpriced when reading his card, but after playing, it feels like 300 is a perfect fit for him. He's clearly a heavy hitter, but there's still plenty of room to pair him with other pricey units. For balance, I think he's spot on. His offensive potential is amazing when an ally is low health, but it is generally pretty easy to take out someone by the time they have 3 wounds. His defense is great, giving him a solid chance to survive no matter what the opponent rolls. I can see myself drafting him for mutant builds, and likely with Rebel builds as more Age of Apocalypse figures come out. I could see Colossus working with multiple cheap units like Mutant Sidekicks, or being on a team that's something like himself, Wolverine, and Omega Red. I am very happy with how AoA Colossus plays.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: He's great. He feels very on point for the character, a titan of a guy that'll beat down whoever hurts his friends. I feel Careless Haste isn't what I think of for Colossus, but I'm not very familiar with AoA Colossus so I'm sure it makes sense for him character wise! I do like it mechanically too. Excellent, very fun unit that'll get even more options as Rebels are added.
Re: The Book of Colossus (AoA) (Public Playtesting)
Looks like that first game was a squash, but looking at the turn by turn breakdown, it appears Omega Red and Colossus both did about the same amount of damage. It also looks like he forfeited the match when Kingpin II was still alive at full health.
That aside, here's the breakdown:
@270 1-1
Medium loss vs FF
Medium win vs Fighters
@300 2-3
Close loss vs FF
Close/Medium loss vs Titans
Close/Medium win vs Fighters
Medium loss vs Titans
Medium/Big win vs Guardians
@305 1-1
Close loss vs. Insane army.
Big win against Kingpin II's army.
Now that I have Shadowcat at 175, I think it'd be nice to have Colossus at 325 for the 500 point block. Would anyone be opposed to raising his defense from 2 to 3, then finalizing him at 325?
Re: The Book of Colossus (AoA) (Public Playtesting)
Pretty fun read on that pre-game story and glowing review at the end. Makes me excited about this Colossus. One really big blow out win though, and one close loss to a pre-eval Joker & clean-up unit Deadpool. The big win looks like it was a bit of bad luck on Kingpin's side with Azrael going down after taking out his own guy.
Re: The Book of Colossus (AoA) (Public Playtesting)
Was working on my post before you posted Arkham. 3 def. & 325 sounds reasonable to me as well. Might need one confirming set of tests though just so we aren't guessing.
Re: The Book of Colossus (AoA) (Public Playtesting)
He'll undoubtedly get lots more testing with the remaining Rebels to be designed. And I feel even with the given results, outside of that one game of his, which he wasn't the driving factor specifically, things have been fairly even. So a bump of 25 and 1 higher defense should be plenty fine, IMO.
I'll call a vote here in a bit unless anyone else has any issues.

Yea
Edit.

STEEL BODY
When rolling defense dice, roll one additional die for each skull rolled by the attacking figure, and: if theat attack is a normal attack, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled. Colossus never rolls for molten lava damage or lava field damage.
For pasteability.
