The Book of Nameless Wolves
The Book of Nameless Wolves C3G COFFIN WAVE 40 WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS Comic PDF Mini PDF The figures used for this unit are Heroscape figures from the Defenders of Kinsland set. Their name and numbers are #6,7/19 / Wolves of Badru. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - After Hope's descent into hell, she was lost, alone, and nearly helpless. Lucifer, trying to manipulate her as always, informed her that in hell, desire equals power, and if she desired to destroy her evil father enough, she would gain the power to do so. The first test of this concept came shortly after, when Hope was attacked by a pack of wild wolves. Drawing upon her anger, she defended herself, killing all but two of the wolves. Beaten and wounded, the remaining wolves knelt down and licked her feet, accepting her as their better, and as their new leader. They remain fiercely loyal to Lady Death, and follow her commands without falter. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves
NAME = NAMELESS WOLVES
SECRET IDENTITY = N/A SPECIES = WOLF UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE SQUAD (2 figures) CLASS = COMPANIONS PERSONALITY = FEROCIOUS SIZE/HEIGHT = SMALL 3 LIFE = 1 MOVE = 7 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 3 DEFENSE = 6 POINTS = 80 HELL LORD LOYALTY At the start of the game choose a Hell Lord you control. After revealing an Order Marker on that Hell Lord's Army Card and before taking a turn with that figure, you may take a turn with the Nameless Wolves. You may not take any additional turns. FEROCIOUS DISTRACTION If a Nameless Wolf is engaged with only one figure, that figure is not considered engaged with any figures you control that do not have this special power. Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves
I went with Bats' suggestion about choosing a Hell Lord, otherwise this hasn't changed much. That seems like a thematic choice anyway, because without it it encourages a Hell Lord army with multiples, when in reality I don't really see any of our Hell Lords working together that much, really.
I'm using 2 Wolves of Badru here, but any wolf figure would realistically work, if anyone knows of some cheap and available alternatives. |

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
Like the Hell Lord change. 6 def seems a bit high. Are hell wolves super durable or something?

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
More durable than Bud and Lou for sure (with 5 defense).
Half of the reason is gameplay. They're supposed to be defensive distractions, so high defense works better, plus they're a unique squad, and I like giving unique squads high defense to give them a bit more oomph. Did the same with the Yakuza. |

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
Looks good on the design! Make sure to link Lady Death in the bio.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I really like how you built out from Lady Death, what I thought was a one off is becoming a nice little faction.

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
Thanks! The plan is to be able to play LD, Vassago, Wolves, and Ernie, and fill in whatever point total you want with Dead Onez. I'm not trying to hit any number here and it probably wouldn't even be a good army at all, but I like the thematic option.

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
I understand the desire to keep unique squad figures around for a while, and that can be difficult with 1 life, but I wish we had another way to make the durable. Like I'd rather see them with 5 def. and 2 life. 6 def. vs. 3 att. dice just feels pretty insurmountable, which hurts 3 att. designs. Plus 6 def. doesn't stop Magneto from throwing a wolf and killing it with one d20 roll. 5/2 would give them durability vs. auto-wounds while making an att. of 3 feel like you are at least chipping away at them and not just wasting an attack.

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
Yeah, having multiple life on some squads would be cool. Quirks of the game system though.
But like I said they're definitely more powerful than earth wolves, so use that as justification. These guys have taken down demons and super soldiers and the like. |

Re: The Book of the Nameless Wolves (Breathing)
That first power actually mirrors our Pet powers, so you might ape that a bit more specifically, wording-wise?
MUTANT PROTECTOR'S PET At the beginning of the game, you may choose one Unique Mutant Protector you control to be Lockheed’s Companion. After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with Lockheed, you may take a turn with Lockheed's Companion. HELL LORD'S PETS At the beginning of the game, you may choose one Unique Hell Lord you control to be the Nameless Wolves' Companion. After revealing an Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with the Nameless Wolves, you may take a turn with their Companion. Doesn't really make a difference, but I do like it when we can have symmetry like that, personally. I think they're probably good to go, though I do wonder about the oddness of making enemy figures not engaged with adjacent figures. It's interesting in the way I like, and I can't THINK of any way to break that... but I'm always worried there's something hidden somewhere I'm not thinking of.
