The Book of Matt Murdock

Matt Murdock changes up his opponent’s approach, but not devastatingly so. In game one, once his Client was destroyed, there were two other figures left in his army, so I chose to ignore him, as he was basically a goner anyway. Allowing Daredevil to pop up almost anywhere does give the player lot of freedom. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Daredevil showed up on the rooftops or near his own startzone in X Marks the Spot.
My Doombots proved sturdy enough to withstand his attacks, while Doom cleared out Ragman and Alfred.
Toxin was possibly a little too strong and fast for Matt as a Client, as there’s incentive for that character to move out quick and land some heavy blows before his defense fails him enough times. 
He fit Luke Cage well, as Luke isn’t too fast for him. Luke’s defense is already tough to break, so if Luke were the character I’d most want to attack, I’m stuck deciding if its better to hope to break through Luke’s Defense+Murdock’s X, or destroy Murdock, which would give Luke another character to bond with. I’d probably go with the former. 
That means it might be best to position Matt between his Client an an Opponent’s figure, so they can only attack Matt.

Demon’s Head + Talon with Unstoppable Resilience was the perfect tool to bypass ever having to trigger Matt’s X with an attack, so it didn’t come in except for a dramatic moment in game 2, where it may have very narrowly saved him. If Matt didn’t have the X order marker, Ra’s or Ra’s+Demon’s Head could have ended the game right there. 
It ended up being pretty close by having Daredevil come in. Was very possible Daredevil could have killed Ra’s before the Lazarus Pit came in, and then DD would just have a few Skrulls to cleanup.

Matt would likely be drafted in Crime Fighter armies, just because of bonding options like Luke and Songbird, but Daredevil (200pt) is such a great cleanup unit on his own. The freedom to have anyone as a Client makes me wonder what other characters Matt might be best suited to defend. Probably someone who already doesn’t need to move too much, or require a bunch of order markers to get them where they need to be, as slowing his client down is MM’s biggest downside. Having Blob as his Client would make destroying Blob even more of a nightmare, as the opponent can’t even strafe around Blob to attack Murdock if they wanted to.

A lot of depth to this character. I don’t know what to say points wise. 80 seems to be around the range for support characters, so it seems fine. A little weird theme wise that he can just disappear, even when surrounded by a group of enemies, but might be too easy to counter otherwise.

Sounds like the change to his removal and placement may lead to some play mechanics that aren't completely logical with lawyer Matt being able to leave engagements and show up as Daredevil else where, but it does eliminate the previous issue of him not being to be placed at all once his client and allies are all gone. It appears that my playtest where Kingpin, Penguin, and the Hired Guns dominated the competition is the outlier amongst the tests so 80 points feels right.

EDIT: Nevermind about Kong. Primal Rage might not work so well with Matt.

So Murdock has a 4-5 record through playtesting. Do you think 80 is the right spot for him?
