Re: C3G Books of Index

I don't think that was the best "test run" A3n, because of the red aura around it. It is a bit difficult to see.

I think that instead of trying to just lighten things up a bit, the color should be altered to something more gray.

I would have thought that you could still see the comparison . The only other glyph I did was the Temporal Disturbance one & I thought there was less ashpalt showing there.

I'm not trying to lighten it per-se, but stretch out its histogram distribution. BTW if you lighten black what colour do you think it is?

I will have to upload the changed template & get one of the others that did a different glyph to try, it just means that if it's not enough I will have to make the change again & upload again then that person would have to update the glyph again & so-on & so-on.

For those that are actually interested in a simplified explanation of what I am doing:
Spoiler Alert!

Cheers

Some grays, actually have a bit of blue in them A3n. Gray isn't always as simple as adding white to black.

Then it's not really grey .

Grey is equal amounts of red, green & blue. (as black is the 0 amount of red, green & blue equally & white is an amount of 255 in red, green & blue equally)

Exactly. So clearly your adding light to black is NOT the same as changing the black to a completely new shade of gray. Also, I think that a blue gray would look good here, and you should try it.

Only on the RGB scale on a computer, but not on the CYMK scale on a printer, especially a laser printer. When you print, the PostScript, PCL, or other page description language interpreter changes it to CMYK and most of them make grey have a little blue, otherwise screen grey would appear brown in ink, as red shows up more. If making on the RGB color scale like most JPG/PNG images, then it usually doesn't matter as the printer or interpreter will handle making RGB colors look decent as CYMK colors, but this conversion may not be uniform on all printers and your individual screen may be deceiving. However, if you want to be really crazy you can do color calibration/color management to make an image on the CMYK scale and find or tweak the ICC color profile for your individual display to more accurately reflect how the printed image looks on the screen, and PDFs can be saved with the CMYK scheme so they will print the same on any printer. This is what magazine and ad publishers do (not sure if game companies that make cards bother with this), but it may be a little too intense for our project.

You are basically correct. CMYK used in printers require a slightly higher percentage of Cyan (which isn't blue) to reproduce the same visually accepted grey as the light spectrum mix of RGB. And this is half the problem, printers have to convert from the light spectrum colours to something that works when printed. But if you have grey on screen as RGB & it's printed blue then that is an issue with the printer & should adjust your colour management to match. Grey is grey, not bluey-grey regardless of the values in the CMYK scale that your printer requires to reproduce it. The other half of the problem is that black in paints/ink is not really black but the closest approximation that can be achieved by making a colour really, really dark, usually a yellow & cyan mix.

Updated.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: C3G Books of Index

Ooh, I do hope we get a PDF for the Equipment Glyph rules. I always find myself going back to check on them, and it's a pain to pull yourself out of the game to look it up in one of the books.
