As far as stats alone, I'm fine with them. Too much randomness on some of the skills, but the figures seem to be priced accordingly. It's nice to see a game that is avoiding the "power creep" tendency.

Not only do the sculpts rock, the figures' stats are pretty nice too. Here's what I like and don't like:
Runa - As a fan of the Mitonsoul Glyph (I know I'm in the minority on that one) I instantly loved this figure. I don't see how this power is much different than DED's - some are going to love it and some are going to hate it. Powers aside I think Runa is the coolest looking Kyrie so far. Kaemon Awa - This is an awesome figure. For 20 points more he's a beefed up Syvarris. He has 4A and 4D with 7R. That makes him a competitor with Krug to be one of my most drafted units. I love this guy and his sculpt also ranks right up there with Krug. Kee-Mo-Shi - First of all the Marros are just not my cup of tea, but that being said this figure adds a lot to your army. 10% chance of mindshackle along with a modified Marro plague makes the 130 points worth it. She is far more attractive (from a draft standpoint) than Morsbane or Sudema to me - from a similar points standpoint. The Einar Imperium - I was probably looking forward to this unit the least after seeing the GenCon pics. Maybe it's just me but swarthy barechested MEN don't do it for me. After seeing their stats though I have changed my mind. These guys are awesome. 6 attacks with 3 dice per turn is amazing. Couple them with Kiova and they have considerable staying power as wel. I will definitely be drafting this unit a lot in future. Shades of Bleakwoode - This unit looks cool and has a power very similar to a Mind Shakle ability. Their cost and stats seem in order. I probably won't play these guys in tournies, but the fun factor is definitely there for drafts in pick up games. Eldgrim - Well Craig didn't lie about him being a short Viking. Razz And in the end I think the designers did the right thing. I wanted a Dwarf and I got him, yet those that didn't want Dwarves in the game can be happy as well. He's definitely a better 30 points than Guilty, though I can't see his spirit power helping a whole lot. Empress Kiova - I love that this "support unit" for the Imperium can actually hold her own in battle. It will be nice to be able to actually include her in attacks. Heavy Grut - These guys were my most anticipated unit and I got pretty much exactly what I expected. They bond. They have disengagement. They are beefed up Blade Gruts. Used in conjunction with Nerak and one of the dino riders these guys are pretty tough. I do wish that they had had a range of 2 though. Tagawa Samurai Archers - At first I wondered about their lack of special powers beyond Counterstrike, but when you consider that they are getting 3 defense dice as opposed to 1 for the Romans or Arrow Gruts they seem a bit more in line. Zombies - I will admit that I'm not even a true zombies fan, but after seeing the massive number of perks and low costs I know that I will be playing this unit alot and in giant horde form. The fact that you can field 4 units of them and still have a ton of points is just scary. They are the solution to other low point hordes. I am keen to see them in action against the 4th Mass. |

Doesn't the new viking guy look like Gimle off the Lord of the Rings?
"Each journey gives rise to chance encounters, and each encounter brings forth a farwell" my favorite animal is the Liger. http://www.sierrasafarizoo.com/animals/liger.htm see they are REAL. |

I was hoping for a lot more. While some of the heroes (Runa is awesome) take the cake, I find many of the squads lackluster. The orcs for example. They looked cool, but they are little more than the utgar version of the knights. (The ghosts are the only squad I am truly excited about.)

Same here I think the heroes are amazing, but I was hoping for the archers and orcs to have some new special attacks. But over all it could have been way worse.

Those zombies are freaking awesome. I am very excited to throw out an army of zombies. I'm feeling a 500 point game - MiniMax can take whatever he wants, I get 8 squads of zombies!

I'm excited about blowing some zombies up. I'm thinking DW8000 can machine gun then down one by one while walking amongst them, since he's too big to be zombified! His 8 def. should be able to defend the 6 attack special long enough to blow a few heads off! Brunak is another good zombie killer, the bloodthirsty creature that he is. I ain't got any gorrillinators, but I'm hoping that maybe some vipers can frenzy them to death, but I bet they'd get creamed and zombified. Can you imagine, viper zombies!

i think its the best wave since jandar's oath. aside from raknar's vision thora and zanafor didn't have any really standout characters aside from the ninjas and gladiators
