Miniature Scale Comparison Photos: 1/16 Doom & Karmans
Miniature Scale Comparison Photos
These photos are to help those of you interested in purchasing miniatures to add to your Heroscape games to see the scale of the official figures in comparison to other miniatures. The Heroscape figures are generally considered to be approx 32mm scale. A bit larger than the standard 28mm metal figures various companies sell. INDEX Page 1 - Heroclix, D&D, Mage Knight, Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Battlemech Dark Age, Dreamblade, Sabertooth Lord of the Rings Page 2 - Descent, Mage Knight, Dreamblade, Axis and Allies Page 4 - Axis and Allies Page 5 - Star Wars, Sabertooth Lord of the Rings, Dreamblade Page 7- eM-4 Prepainted, Battlefield Evolution, Wizkids Aliens and Predators, Reaper Legendary Encounters, D&D Page 8 - Navia Drapt, Tannhauser, Wizkids Halo, Wizkids BPRD Page 9 - Wizkids Halo, Wizkids Predators, Warzone Mutant Chronicles, Kyomek, Page 10 - Duel Masters, Doom, Grenadier Space Rangers (also sold by e-M4), Last Night on Earth, Tannhauser and one crazy GW inquisitor! Page 11 - Doom, Warzone, Warhammer and AT-43 Karmans Page 13 - World of Warcraft I only have a limited number of non-Heroscape miniatures, so if you can add more comparison photos with figures from other popular ranges, please do so. Here are comparison shots of some plastic figures: From left to right: Wizkids Mage Knight Regal Skymage, Wizards of the Coast D&D plastic Zombie, Games Workshop plastic Zombie, Heroscape Knight of Weston, Wizkids Indyclix Hellboy, Wizkids Marvel Heroclix Ninja, Wizards of the Coast Star Wars plastic Iktotchi Tech specialist From left to right: Wizards of the Coast D&D plastic Zombie, Games Workshop plastic Zombie, Wizards of the Coast Star Wars plastic Iktotchi Tech specialist, Heroscape Knight of Weston From left to right: Wizkids Mage Knight Regal Skymage, Wizkids Indyclix Hellboy, Wizkids Marvel Heroclix Ninja, Heroscape Knight of Weston From left to right: Heroscape Raelin, Heroscape Concan, Wizkids Mage Knight Regal Skymage Just for completeness, here is the old scale comparison photo I took a while back: From left to right: Wizkids Mage Knight dwarf, Heroscape Agent Carr, Wizkids Mage Knight Blackthrone modded into Elric, Wizards of the Coast D&D ninja modded into teenage Rikimaru from Tenchu, Wizkids Marvel Heroclix Blade (slightly modified) Note: In general, the D&D and Star Wars plastic pre-painted human figures look slight and frail next to HS figures. Most of the monsters and larger figures work fine, however. This has changed with releases in 2006 and 2007 (the size was increased), so it is hard to tell without direct comparison. Nice idea Annerios! I also have been looking for other minatures that fits in HS... Here some comparisons
Warhammer Sniper, Assassine, Ork with Krav and Blade Grut Warhammer 40.000 Space Marines with AE Warhammer 40.000 Necrons with Krav Battlemechs Dark Age with Zettian and DW Star Wars Minis with Zettian Most minis tend to bit a little smaller in scale than hs, but i think they still fit (and are a bit more detailed to be honest... ) Chicano. |

Thanks for taking the time to do this, Ch1can0!
Your contribution is exactly what I was looking for. I just don't have the amount (and variety) of miniatures I used to own anymore. These kind of photos are very helpful, especially with the Warhammer related stuff, since so many people own those miniatures. I am surprised those space marines look kind of small next to the airborne elite. I always hear the GW keeps bulking up the size of their marines. |

Nice size comparisons, Annerios. Man, Hellboy is small when matched up with those other figures! |

Hellboy does look a little short. His legs are a bit bent, but from seeing the comics and movie, I thought his figure should be bulkier too. |

Hey Annerios and Ch1can0: Thanks for posting those pictures. Its nice to see how each miniature stands up and fun too! I was wondering if either of you has any idea how the Descent Journeys into the Dark game compares to HS. I was considering purchasing this game but want to know if the miniatures are the right size or not.
I'm also surprised the warhammer figures are so small. Since heroquest was made in collaboration with games workshop and has figures about the same size as the HS figures, I figured the warhammer figures would be around there too. “Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. One thing I know is figures advertised as 28mm are not always 28mm. |

HS scale vs Sabertooth's Lord of the Rings I have not rebased the LOTR minis yet (obviously), so I boosted the HS archers to match all the base tops. You'll notice, however, that the LOTR figures have an additional lift. When rebased the overall heights will be a bit closer. FYI ... looks like the LOTR figures are no longer in production. |

Thanks for the new photo. I played the LOTR game with a friend when it was first released. It was fun game, but the figures were a bit larger than 28mm. It seems as if with some adjustment (I hate it when they add that extra plastic under a figure's feet) they look a little better. |
