Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (VOTE FOR INITIAL PLAYTEST)
yea, I think this design checks off a few boxes on the CRB checklist though (free movement + free unblockable att. die = no OM investment needed) so it could be a good idea to tag them here before testing starts to see what types of combos they would recommend.

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (VOTE FOR INITIAL PLAYTEST)
Bloodscent is pretty great by itself, it's basically like a version of Scatter that works on offense and defense, they've got some strong potential for lockdown and such with just that power alone.
The autowounding power is just... crazy right now. Like you can just keep engaging and disengaging the same person 6 times in a turn to have a little auto-wound duel with them? That can also move up a bunch of other sharks to kill other things? Then you can throw in Weather Wizard or whatnot and make the 'duel' risk free for the shark? Then there is always stuff like Martian Manhunter and whatnot. The power is just way too abusable, even with the Super-Strength bit as all that does is make a have and have-nots kinda situation. It doesn't really balance the power it just makes it swingy depending on the match-up. There needs to at least be some kinda limit where it only can work on a figure the first time that shark engages them that turn, though that would still be crazy powerful in the right set-up and put guys like Archangel to shame. It wouldn't surprise me if it needed to be dialed all the way down to each shark only getting to roll 1 time per turn total*. Even at that step a nerf they'd still be pretty sweet. *I actually have a Wolverine card in 'Soundwarpscape' that basically works like that. He rolls 1 unblockable against the first person he engages in a command, Soundwarpscape for 'player turn' more-or-less, it's so he pairs well with throwers for 'fastball special' action. It has been a potent power in Soundwarpscape so far, so even in juiced-up C3G land I don't think bumping that sort of thing up to omega-venti-mode (especially on an uncommon that gets free moves all the time) is a good idea. Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (VOTE FOR INITIAL PLAYTEST)
Wow thanks for the insight Soundwarp, Ronin is correct in saying that’s a gross oversight let’s rewind to the design phase until this is resolved. How does this sound:
LIFE = 3 BLOOD SCENT Whenever an opponent’s figure that is not a Grizzly Shark, receives a wound from a normal attack but is not destroyed, you must immediately move this Grizzly Shark as close to the wounded figure as possible, moving up to a maximum of 3 spaces. This Grizzly Shark will take leaving engagement attacks while moving with Blood Scent. |

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (Design Phase)
I'd also tweak Land Shark's wording like this:
LAND SHARK When moving normally up levels of height to move onto a space with Grizzly Shark, do not count spaces for the first 3 levels. You may ignore Grizzly Shark's height of 4 when climbing. The first time each turn that this Grizzly Shark engages an enemy figure without the Superstrength ability roll one unblockable attack dice against that figure. Yeah, I too missed what Soundwarp described. |

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (Design Phase)
I would rather tie it to a D20 and up the roll than implement that. If these guys are easily Killable and forced to take leaving engagements and passing swipes they’ll go down before they can autowound every Green Lantern.
EDIT* I misread what you posted there LO. One unblockable per Grizzly Shark per turn makes sense. Last edited by L0B5T3R; December 14th, 2018 at 09:45 AM. |

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (Design Phase)
So that brings us up to this:
LIFE = 3 BLOOD SCENT Whenever an opponent’s figure that is not a Grizzly Shark, receives a wound from a normal attack but is not destroyed, you must immediately move this Grizzly Shark as close to the wounded figure as possible, moving up to a maximum of 3 spaces. This Grizzly Shark will take leaving engagement attacks while moving with Blood Scent. The first time each turn that this Grizzly Shark engages an enemy figure without the Superstrength ability roll one unblockable attack dice against that figure. |

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (Design Phase)
OK, working from the post immediately above, the worst cheese has been eliminated. Now he's more like a weird cross between Archangel and Jason Voorhees that's easier to kill. Obvious pairings are things that can move allies a bunch (Manhunter 1, etc) and things that dish out lots of normal attacks (bonding builds and/or squads). They're fragile, but also cheap enough that you could theoretically spam 2 or 3 of them.
Iron Patriot + Martian Manhunter + Sharks Fury + SHIELD Agents + Sharks Cyclops + Cable + Sharks It's dangerous but manageable in its current form. I am amused that they do a pretty good job fitting the definition of a "Shark" from Jexik's classic OM management article (OK, not perfect because they don't use OMs, but everything else). |

Re: The Book of Grizzly Shark (Design Phase)
I really appreciate your comments dok. It looks like the concerns have been diminished. I’ll call once again for A VOTE FOR INITIAL PLAYTESTING.
