Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
True. They need a cool Event card, really.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

That would actually be a perfect fix for them!

I remember seeing the thing for The Flash's Rogues in the public playtest thread, was that an event card?

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
Are the Sentinels not competitive with Trask?

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
Definitely better, but I still wouldn't say competitive. Trask is gonna wanna hang out in the start zone all game, but he get's absolutely melted if anyone can get past the Sentinels, which doesn't seem too hard. The sentinels get surprisingly good mobility with Trask between his Guardian of Humanity and their Mutant Alert though.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
If you had Trask + M.R.D. Trooper x2 + Sentinel x5 for 980 pts, if those five Sentinels are around even 1 Mutant, isn't that a +10 Initiative? 1 Mutant in an army allows this boost, and multiple Mutants makes it even more likely. I might be misinterpreting the rules, and I've also never played this matchup, so I'm curious to hear how it actually plays out. Sometimes, it's not advantageous to win initiative.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
Trask helped for sure, but in the end they still aren't very competitive. Need another Sentinel model or two so you can have a couple of different options when building an army. Like one that gives you some auto-wound potential would be a good start, a SA option would be another good idea. Building an army that only has a normal attack of 5 as a means to inflict damage is going to have lots of match-up problems.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
For 980 points you could also do an X3 style army:
Trask Sentinels x 4 MRD Trooper x 6 Leech I still might be misinterpreting the rules, but Mutant Detection appears to allow a Mutant on your own team to give the initiative boost. You can have Trask protected by Leech, the Sentinels posted within 4 spaces of Leech to give +8 each round, while Trask sends out the Troopers to deliver the Mutant "Cure." There could be a better Mutant to go with in your army than Leech, but he's thematic and Negates any Mutant trying to assassinate Trask. |

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
That army would really struggle to deal with someone like Blob since they only have normal attacks, but as a general anti-mutant force? That sounds pretty solid. I didn't think of the Sentinels boosting their initiative with a mutant on their own team! You get a lot of activations off one OM, but none of those activations are particularly powerful. I could see it holding it's own against most mutant armies though. Gotta talk my friends into a game where its that army vs. X-Men vs. Brotherhood!

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
Leech can help with Blob at least. I guess that's the thing with the Sentinels: If you build up around them and really go all in on supporting them, you still have a normal attack dependent army that is match up specific.

Re: C3G Strategy/Competitive Discussion (Sentinel)
I totally forgot about Rover.
980pts: Trask Rover Sentinels x3 MRD Trooper x6 Leech Have Trask as Rover's Companion. Now Trask can not only move 3 Sentinels or 6 Troopers, he can also take a Turn with Rover, who can Carry Leech, Trask, or even a Trooper if need be. "Destroy!" also would protect both Trask and Leech, and give an Auto-Wound to the attacker. Blob can't use Stuck on a Sentinel, Rover or Leech. So surrounding him with 3 Sentinels means potentially 3 Leaving Engagement Attacks. Then bringing in Leech with Rover means no more Blubber protection for Blob. |
