The Book of Ghost Rider
The Book of Ghost Rider C3G MARVEL SUPER SECRET EXCLUSIVE 12 _________________________________________________________________HELL'S ANGEL Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Fantastic Forces set. Its model number and name are #022-024 / Ghost Rider. Character Bio - Johnny Blaze was the son of a motorcycle stunt rider named Barton Blaze. When Barton Blaze suddenly died, Johnny's world was turned upside down as he lost the last of his family. Not long after the stunt accident that killed his father, Johnny Blaze was adopted by Crash Simpson. After promising Crash's wife on her deathbed that he would never ride again, Johnny made a deal with the arch-demon Mephisto to heal Crash of his cancer. Crash Simpson, on the other hand, felt as if he had nothing to lose. He didn't know of the pact that Johnny had made in order to save his life. Therefore, he decided to make an attempt to perform a breath-taking stunt: a giant jump over twenty-two cars. However, Crash did not make it. Instead, he and his vehicle crashed upon the ground and he died. After Johnny Blaze saw Crash die, his world had crumbled down, he did not think that life could get any worse. Just as he thought that the Devil appeared. Johnny began yelling at the Devil and telling him that he double crossed him, but the Devil stated that he had cured Crash Simpson’s disease and that he wanted to claim his reward. With that statement heard he declared that Johnny Blaze would become his Emissary in the dark hours and in the light he would join him in Hades. The pact was made, by day Johnny Blaze would walk among the living, but by night he became the Ghost Rider. Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
NAME = GHOST RIDER
SECRET IDENTITY = JOHNNY BLAZE SPECIES = DEMON UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = SPIRIT PERSONALITY = VENGEFUL SIZE/HEIGHT = LARGE 5 LIFE = 7 MOVE = 9 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 6 DEFENSE = 7 POINTS = 380 HELLFIRE MOTORCYCLE Ghost Rider does not take leaving engagement attacks. When counting spaces for Ghost Rider's movement, ignore terrain effects of water, lava, heavy snow and slippery ice. When moving up levels of height to move onto a space with Ghost Rider, do not count spaces for the first two levels and only count one space for each two levels after the first two. You may ignore Ghost Rider's height when moving up levels of terrain. PENANCE STARE 19 Anytime an opponent's Unique Hero destroys a figure you control with a normal or special attack, you may place the destroyed figure on the attacking Hero's Army Card. Instead of attacking with Ghost Rider, you may choose an adjacent Unique Hero. Roll the 20-sided die. Add 1 to the roll for each figure that was placed on the chosen figure's card by this special power, up to a maximum of +4. If you roll 19 or higher, destroy the chosen figure. Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
Not to downplay the destruction of squad or common figures, but Penance Stare is going to be w-a-y too powerful if I stock up Moloids, Fire Ant Swarms, Bodyguards, Civilians or any other cheap filler and let them be taken out by the opponent's HH's, keeping GR in the back or zipping away on his motorcycle until the crowd has thinned and he only has to roll 11-12 or higher to destroy Superman outright.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
Tickle, should GR's Hellfire Motorcycle be affected by Ice and Snow? No, IMO. Regular fire would melt ice and snow, Hellfire would melt it almost instantly.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
Maybe we should change it to Unique figure?
But I agree with Spidey, take out Ghost Rider first if he drafts a bunch of low cost commons. |

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
That's a good call, he would be a good counter to the Casket of Ancient Winters Glyph, I think I'll add that he counts Heavy Snow and Slippery Ice as one Space.

Well now that's interesting guys. It's okay for the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze molten lava (yet Alfred and Bob aren't affected by such cold other than their movement), but Ghost Riders hellfire isn't affected? I know it's hellfire, but molten lava is pretty darn not too. I like the write-up, it's actually nice and simple. Could he have a range of 2 for the chain? I've kind of seen it go out pretty far, so I was just wondering. Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
Nope, the figure who attacked gets credit for the kill.
But it does make you think twice about rolling for those leaving engagement attacks against squaddies now, doesn't it? |

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
Uck, that's a bit of a rules lawyery question, isn't it ... Here's another - if I use Magneto to throw someone into lava, does Magneto destroy the figure, or the lava? Should we specify an attack in there somehow and just let guys like MODOK and Magneto have a nice counter punch to him?
I like the design overall, though, and can go either way on the snow. I think the difference between Molten Lava and Ghost Rider's hellfire is that the latter is magical and demonic and able to counter the magic of the Winter Glyph's snow. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Ghost Rider - Design
So I just researched Johnny Blaze, and apparently he has Hell Fire power which can be similar to Penance Stare, but isn't the same as how Penance Stare is found in Danny Ketch's comics. So this writeup is more in line with Danny, not Johnny. Hell Fire doesn't physically harm, but instead inflicts damage on the soul. So maybe Johnny should be able to deal damage with a D20 power that deals damage not in wounds, but in counters and once the figure has received a number of counters that equals its Life Number, it is destroyed.
That could create a new and interesting way to kill a figure without dealing traditional "damage", which is relevant to figures that heal, berserk, rage, etc. |
