Its model number and name are #033 / Dr. Strange. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Though the protection of Earth from inter-dimensional threats and other terrors sometimes prevents Doctor Strange from bringing his full arcane power to bear on more mundane matters, he is not one to ignore evil in any form. SECRET IDENTITY = STEPHEN STRANGE SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = STRATEGIST PERSONALITY = WISE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 5 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 280 DIMENSIONAL DEFENDER After rolling for initiative, you may reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card. While there is a revealed "X" Order Marker on this Card, Doctor Strange cannot move, attack, or make leaving engagement attacks. After taking a turn with Doctor Strange, if there is a revealed "X" Order Marker on this Card, you may choose a figure that is not on the battlefield with Doctor Strange and does not share an identity with a figure on the battlefield with Doctor Strange. Roll 1 unblockable attack die against the chosen figure. SECRET DEFENDERS After revealing a numbered Order Marker on this card and before taking a turn with Doctor Strange, you may choose up to two other Unique Heroes you control that have not been chosen for this special power previously this game and take a turn with each of those Heroes. When he's in the Astral Plane, he could still cast a non-attack spell then (like Condemn)? I'm fine with that, just wanted to make sure that was intentional. Trying to think of the best way to maximize his bonding power. Bonding once per game with a couple of heavy hitters like Thor/Hulk might be better then bonding once per game repeatedly with a bunch of cheap figures like Ant-Man & Wasp. Maybe combine the two, draft two heavy hitters, and two cheap figures, and only plan on bonding twice in the whole match.

Secret Defenders is a huge memory mechanic but for some reason I’m fine with it.
Would it be wrong for his class to be...Defender? Seems like it would make it easier to staple together a Defenders faction in the future that way. |

Probably take him with other bonders and use his bonding as backup while exploiting his Astral Form to eliminate figures like Winter Soldier or keep someone like Doomsday off the field.

I think there was talk at one point about using Sorcerer as a key word reference for a spell that he should be able to do, or do better than others, while lesser magic users could not perform. If that comes to pass, then having one Dr. Strange tagged and one not would be weird. Maybe dual class him as part of the Defender power if it seems needed, or just have any future Defender related powers call out Defender and Sorcerer both. Not a ton of Sorcerer's out there to worry about widespread synergy being created.

There are only a few I think. I know Shang Tsung is a sorcerer since I did his poker card last night.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Not sure he's going to be worth 350 either way. He's going to need room to draft multiple allies into a 1000 point army, so I'd start down around 300 for testing. Assuming you want to draft at least 6 allies with him so he can use his power 3 times over 3-4 rounds. 700/6 only gives you an average of under 120 points for a 1000 point army, 900/6 bumps it up to 150 point average in a 1200 point army. If you play him in a 2400 point army though, 300 point average for 6 allies would make him play much stronger, but then at that point level maybe you want to draft him with 8-10 allies instead of 6 since it should be a longer game.

I really think he will come in strongest in end game rather than early on as you won't want to waste your only activations with a figure too soon.
