Re: OHS 51 - Delta Sideboards - Round 1 Until 2/7
Cpt. Stupendous and I played yesterday, I made a miscalculation early game. I assumed because he only had 2 OMs on Heracles, they were 3 and the X, so I wanted to use the initiative I won combined with Valda to grab both treasure glyphs without Heracles hitting Kozil. I grabbed the ring of protection, but Heracles had turn 2 and the X, so he was able to use labors to smack Kozil from height, 5/8 skulls into 1/6 shields (RoP) meant Kozil was half dead. I landed a wounded rage and used my turn 3 to grab Dagmar with a spider and dealt one more wound to Heracles with Kozil. Cpt. used turn 3 to kill a couple spiders with Meburqsa and romans. I then lost the next initiative and between two more Heracles turns, Kozil went down. From there things continued to go down hill for me, I think by the end of it I killed Meburqsa and 1 roman and maybe 5 wounds on Heracles. Rough game for me, but Cpt. played it well, GG!!

Recap
Armies:
vegie dad : Havechs x3, Major Q10 Dysole : Ebon Armor, Kozuke, Tagawa, Tarns, Martial La Hire, Kate Crawford, Otonashi So, I figured going in that it was going to be Havechs and Q10. This meant Murphy was out as he did very little against this army. Kozuke were in because they were cheap and matched up nicely at being able to hit Q10 or Havechs from a long way away. Martial La Hire would be a great piece to engage Q10 with. This left me with 205 points. I could only get one of Nakitas or Tagawas and doing so would leave me with only 95-100 points. Izumi didn't fit nicely into that and I wasn't too sure how useful they would be here but Kate + Tarns + Oto was 95. Q10 seemed like he would eat through Nakitas but Tagawa were much more dangerous to him. So Tagawa were the choice. I led with Ebon and he led with Q10. I got very fortunate that his first salvo killed zero Ebon allowing me to double engage and hit him for 3 wounds (3 skulls vs 0/6 shields). At that point I felt very much in control even as he killed both Ebon the following turn. Kozuke led off despite me losing init with Dagmar and managed to kill Q10 who had put 2 wounds on Kate. After that it was a lot of positioning around the board. His Havechs took a lot of ranged shots at my Samurai and Tarns dying only once to Plasma Surge while I moved around my figures taking every opportune attack I could. I mistakenly revealed an Ebon OM too soon which allowed him to kill my Ebon that could have engaged. He moved forward and managed to put 3 wounds on Martial only to have a Tagawa engage him and he died to counter strike on his next attack. I won initiative and managed to start cleaning house with Tagawa whittling him down to less than a squad. His last two Havechs failed to kill anything and one died to Plasma Surge while the last one died to an Ebon attack. Good game vegie dad. I got the momentum early and it never left. ~Dysole, really liking the way the Ebon play My Twitch Channel where I play Scape and other things My YouTube Channel where the games get uploaded later This sentence is seven words long. Another Game
Grey Waves : Marro Warriors, Krav Maga Agents, Romans x3, Isamu
Dysole : Ebon Armor, Izumi Samurai, Kozuke Samurai, Tagawa Samurai, James Murphy, Otonashi Going into this matchup I was very certain I was going to have to fight Krav. However, I was expecting there to be a Romans fortress with Krav behind it. James Murphy and Ebon were obvious picks. Izumi Samurai also made a ton of sense as 5 defense with counter strike would be tough for the Romans. I liked the Kozuke's ability to cover wide stretches of ground and with the road it'd be hard to hide. It felt like one of the few ways I could actually get to the Krav. That left the remaining points. Nakitas and Tagawa both felt potentially helpful. Nakitas probably lose a Krav shootout and any Marcus bonding could make life painful for them. Tagawa aren't great against the Krav but 5 defense is good and they were more problems for the Romans. Oto filled out points. Game started with me inching forward with Ebon while he led Krav. Given how far forward they were in the start zone this felt like a very real possibility and so I made sure my Ebon were next to trees or height at every opportunity. He was careful to make sure I couldn't engage with Ebon. He managed to kill one of them before I got them to the high spots on the map. His Krav were still really far back. I was tempted to send the Izumi next but realizing that there was no screen I realized the Kozuke were going to be my best bet at taking out the Krav. I started the next round with them but put OM 2 on Ebon just in case he moved his Krav forward to take pot shots. It almost worked as he told me he almost did it. I repositioned Ebon and only lost one more and spent my third order marker putting my Kozuke in place. He took some shots but none went through. I won a very critical initiative and managed to move Kozuke to engage all three Krav and kill them wiping up an entire round from him. GW almost conceded here but decided to play it out. Fortunately for him, my remaining Order Markers were on Izumi that I used to bring up into position including managing to Zawit one into the back of his start zone. The next round started off with him blocking the path to his Marro Warriors with Romans only for both to die from counter strike. I was unable to kill any of the Marro Warriors and the Izumi died and the Ebon it dropped also died but I placed my Izumi where his Romans would have an absolute nightmare of a time getting around them. The last turn of the round I managed to kill a MW with a Kozuke, Zawit another into the back of the start zone and place the third in a position to attack another MW. I fortunately won this initiative and managed to kill 2 of the remaining 3 MWs. The Kozuke fell pretty quickly after this with none of them managing to counter strike. The Ebon also fell. I managed to bring the Tagawa in. By this point he had walled off access to his last MW and I made my way through to slice up the Roman hordes. I managed to power up the Tagawa to +3 experience markers but they all died to Roman attacks only bringing the three Romans they killed with them. The Ebon they dropped was also summarily killed. At this point I had my Ebon remaining, 2 Izumi, Murphy, and Oto. He had a single MW, Isamu, and about 7 Romans. He spent the first order marker spreading apart his Romans before diving the MW into the water and rolling a 3. I managed to get a height shot on the MW with Murph but it missed. He managed to clone on his third order marker only for me to run up and hit 3 skulls on the MWs and 2 Romans. All 4 figures died. At this point I feel pretty good because Murphy is well protected from the Romans and Isamu probably is going to have to risk counter strike to kill the Izumi. I manage to back Murph up and take pot shots while the Romans moved up slowly. Unfortunately for GW, they kept dying to counter strike. I moved adjacent to the last Roman, missed the whip and failed to kill it. Isamu moved up and I took the disengage to retreat to height. What I should have done was waited until he got there and hit the Izumi with the Shotgun blast and entirely avoided Vanish. It worked out for me though as Isamu only managed to get two more wounds before he rolled a 5 after Murph hit him with the whip and 2 skulls. GW conceded with a single Roman engaged to an Izumi left. ~Dysole, really enjoying the build she brought My Twitch Channel where I play Scape and other things My YouTube Channel where the games get uploaded later This sentence is seven words long. Elaboration
ryguy : Swiftfangs, Greyspears, Arktos, Marro Warriors
Me : Ebon Armor, Kozuke, Tarns, Izumi, Nakitas, Kate Crawford I pretty much knew Heracles wasn't going to show up from his build which left the Varks + MWs. Knowing that I knew I wanted Nakitas since they were my best chances against any ranged attacks of which both Greyspears and MWs would have plenty. Kozuke should be able to punch back from out of range and their 5 attack would be very useful. I would've liked Tagawa but I felt having more figures in more places was the better call and so I opted for Tarns and Izumi whose high defense and speed (well only if I rolled hot with Tarn) could help in the matchup. Kate filled out points. He won opening initiative which wasn't great as it allowed him to grab Ulaniva before I ever took a turn. Grabbing Wannok was also not ideal but due to Ebon and Kate I wasn't too worried about a round of Wannok. His next turn on the Greyspears managed to kill all but the one hiding behind a glacier which killed the Swiftfang on Ulaniva. He managed to kill the final Ebon only to have it come back after he killed a Kozuke after I whiffed on my smoke powders. This was good for me as my 3rd turn allowed me to engage two Greyspears and kill one of them. He then rolled a 1 on Wannok losing a Swiftfang. I won initiative and charged my two remaining Kozuke. One managed to kill a second Greyspear but the other faltered. However on the Swiftfang turn he blocked a ranged attack and then rolled 2 shields on a 1 skull 5 dice attack down from a Greyspear. The Swiftfangs had managed to reclaim the glyphs though. He was unable to kill a Tarn and the Tarns killed the last Greyspear and the Swiftfang on Ulaniva. Arktos killed the Kozuke who had fell his brethren. Wannok took out my only Ebon on the board and it went onto the Kozuke card giving me Ebon on all my squad cards. The next round Arktos was unable to kill a Tarn. I then took Ulaniva, failed to kill the Swiftfang on Wannok, but managed a 4/4 on Arktos to finish him off (I was hoping to just wound him severely but not kill him). This allowed the MWs to take pot shots at me. One managed to kill the Tarn on Ulaniva only to have an Ebon immediately take its place. Nakitas moved up, finished off the Swiftfang and then smoke powdered the Marro counterattack. I set up a spot where they were all next to each other and managed to kill the forward two MWs with 5 dice attacks. Final round MWs both hopped into water and failed cloning rolls and were then immediately vaporized by Nakitas. Good game ryguy. After losing the Swiftfang to Wannok and my init switch, the game swung back into my favor and I never let up. ~Dysole, happy to make it into the playoffs again My Twitch Channel where I play Scape and other things My YouTube Channel where the games get uploaded later This sentence is seven words long.
