Should Marvel be allowed in the GenCon Main Event

Of course reducing the # of figures reduces army building choices. That is a 100% Mathematical certainty. Some people cannot build competitive armies without Q9 or Raelin, by your logic those should be banned too. If someone can win GenCon with 370/500 devoted to a melee attacker they deserve to win.

No, according to his logic, Q9 and Raelin shouldn't not be banned. He's not really giving any argument for why a change should be made to ban anyone, just for why a change shouldn't be unmade to unban anyone.
Which seems to be the prevailing thought in the non-Marvel sector. They just don't want to change what's already in place or don't think that what's already in place needs to be changed. Interestingly, there's no real explanation being given for why these things were put into place to begin with. (I suspect this is because the logic of such choices was questionable to begin with).
But, as someone very wise said, the rules of the tourney are up to the Tourney director. He doesn't owe me or anyone else anything and he historically does quite a good job, so I'm not one to complain.

I somewhat disagree with Batman on the Oncara's argument. Oncara has never said on this thread to keep things the same because it is better to not rock the boat. He instead has stated that he thinks people cannot build armies without them which also interestingly applies to normal HS figures he doesn't want banned

Going back to this point.....Since they have pretty much abandoned the Marvel line how exactly would they entice new players by including it in a tournament?

Do we know that the Reinforcements will Never arrive? It is also possible that those who otherwise might just walk past might be encouraged to watch a game if they see a piece they recognize. Finally, getting people to purchase the left over Marvelscape sets that are for sale from distributors would only make these sellers likely to stick with Heroscape since it would reduce the fear of not being able to sell products they order in the future.

At GenCon there is not alot of walk-by onlooker traffic in the Heroscape tournament area....but everyone who walks by does stop to look because of the 3D hex terrain and the beautiful miniatures. They usually are drawn in by the fact that there are Soulborgs fighting Vikings and Agents fighting Dragons more-so than seeing Spidey on the board.

Marvel is not part of Heroscape...it is a variation of Heroscape. While the units can be used with the classic Scape if you desire it is a stand alone game (or was supposed to be). Look at the Conflict Begins set itself....the asphalt,concrete and warehouse are not part of Valhalla. It is the Marvel Universe.

Last year there was the Marvel Power of One event and it went over very well. The main event is for classic Scape...has been always will be.

How would you know? If Marvel's not allowed, Spidey's never on anyone's map (there are no boards in this game).

It's not a writer's guild - it's a tournament. The main event would still be for Valhalla Scape (the "classic" term is silly, IMO) even if Marvel were allowed. Would it suddenly not be for Valhalla Scape just because you could use 10 other figures if you wanted to as well?
