Not at all that I don't like him, but more that he's a very specific version, not the 'big, powerful Sorcerer Supreme mega-magician' that I'm talking about wanting in a Strange III.

Am I correct to assume that the d20 swap takes the actual rolled value, not including any modifications? For example, if I roll a 12 for initiative but I have Heimdall in my start zone, and Doctor Fate spends steals the result, Doctor Fate is banking a 12 on his card, not a 20, correct?

Correct. The swapped in die can still use any modifications after being swapped, but Fate takes the die as-is, otherwise auto-destroy powers would be too easy to fish for. I can add an FAQ for that.

Here's a ridiculous build, just for lolz:

Forge
Quentin Quire
John Constantine
Star Sapphire (Uncommon)

Yellowjacket gives the shrinking ray gun to QQ.

OM on Forge->QQ rolls a d20 to take a turn (John Constantine can re-roll it if he misses, Fate can intervene if you miss twice)->QQ tries to Psychic Assault John Constantine->Constantine Rolls Synchronicity->QQ tries to shrink Constantine->Constantine Rolls Synchronicity->Forge tries to replicate the shrinking ray gun->Forge tries to shrink Constantine->Constantine Rolls Synchronicity.

Eight d20 rolls each turn, plus 1 extra one per round, plus whatever your opponent brings, plus the two initiative rolls. With those numbers it shouldn't take long to get a 20. Once you get a 20, Fate banks it and Star Sapphire drops a marker on a baddie. As soon as it takes a turn, Fate makes the 20 hit.
