Unit Summary: Mary definitely feels more competitive and playable here. This was fun, so I’m happy with the change. Not sure if her cost will stay down, though. I will say the match up and dice felt in the favor of the Marvel Family.

Katana and Black Lightning advance.
Mary zips forward and smacks Black Lightning for three wounds from height. Green Arrow sheds a JL Marker and takes height, attacks Black Lightning and is blocked, Atom pops up next to Black Lightning and Katana and hits Katana for a wound, then Green Arrow attacks twice more, KO’ing Black Lightning.
Geo-Force rallies. He advances and throws down lava tile, which misses Green Arrow and Atom, but hits Katana and Mary. Geo-Force follows Mission Prep and KO’s Atom. Katana slices Mary for three wounds. Batman can’t hit Mary, but does hit Green Arrow for a wound with his Shuriken.
Billy advances with the Shared Power and takes height on lava field, but Katana hits her Iajutsu roll to take stop him. Mary takes a swipe from Katana and flies over to height on Geo-Force and punches him for two wounds.
Geo-Force throws down another lava field and hits Billy, Green Arrow, and Mary all for wounds. Mary is KO’ed. Geo-Force can’t hit Billy with an attack. Katana finishes off Green Arrow. Halo uses her red aura to put a third wound on Billy, then fails an attack on him.
Lava field doesn’t hurt Billy.

Round 2: Initiative Outsiders. They advance, but Katana misses the unblockable. Batman uses Mission Prep and Katana hits Billy for a fourth wound, then Geo-Force misses Halo and hits Billy with a rock tile before attacking and finishing Billy off.

Unit Summary: Mary hit hard and fast while she was up, but she’s a priority target and not that hard to hit, so she was put down fast as a result. Outsiders had things fall into place for them with the early rally and the initiative switch and had some solid attack roll luck as well. So far I think she’s feeling just about right and her army was fun to play and had clear potential if things had broken better for them.

Round 2: Initiative Titans. Titans Go! Tempest takes a swipe, but backs up and throws down water, wounding Billy and missing Mary. Raven absorbs Tempest’s wounds and Soul Selfs Billy. Arsenal fires at Green Arrow and Billy takes a swipe from Heroic Duty but defends the attack. Nightwing fails a ranged attack on Billy.
Mary and Billy share the power, but both fail to hit Starfire. Billy hits Starfire with the Lightning of Zeus.
Arsenal swings at Mary, misses, but gets himself out of engagement. Starfire double attacks Billy and hits for one wound.
Black Canary sheds a JL marker to advance. Billy can’t do a thing against Starfire. Green Arrow sheds a JL Marker and gets off four attacks, KO’ing Starfire but failing to hit Nightwing.
Tempest moves onto water. Arsenal shoots at Black Canary and Billy avoids what would be a killing swipe and blocks the attack. Tempest throws down water which wounds Black Canary and KO’s Billy. Canary hits her Cry and wounds Nightwing.
Black Canary shes a JL Marker and hits Tempest for a wound. Mary can’t hit Nightwing. Green Arrow sheds his third JL Marker and attacks down on Tempest for one wound.

Round 3: Initiative Justice League. Canary sheds a JL Marker, but can’t hit Tempest from height. Mary KO’s a whiffing Nightwing.

Mary flies over and fails to hit Arsenal. Green Arrow sheds his last JL Marker, but can’t hit Raven from range and height.

Unit Summary: Billy was easy for the Titans to manipulate with Heroic Duty and he took a lot of unblockables, falling pretty fast. Mary stuck around and get in a lot of hits, but the Justice League burned their turn efficiency earlier in the game and didn’t have enough left in the tank to handle Raven in end game.

UNIT SUMMARY: She only had one bonding partner to try this out with, but with a 1-2 record, I’m not too concerned so far, and would love to move to public playtesting with the version I tested here.

Round 2: Initiative Titans. Titans Go! Raven heals three wounds from Arsenal and Soul Selfs one onto Super Billy. Starfire triple attacks Super Billy for three wounds. Nightwing engages Super Billy and Mary and Arsenal attacks Captain Billy, triggering Heroic Duty, but both swipes miss and Super Billy blocks the attack. Nightwing can’t hit Mary.
Mary shares the power three ways. Super Billy engages Raven and hits her for one wound (she didn’t ignore any) then misses the unblockable. Captain Billy hits Starfire for a wound. Mary hits Starfire for two wounds.
Arsenal triggers Heroic Duty and Super Billy takes a swipe but blocks the attack. Arsenal moves himself. Starfire quadruple attacks Mary from engagement for five quick wounds.
Super Billy KO’s Starfire.
Arsenal can’t hit Super Billy, but moves himself. Tempest throws out a water tile that misses all three Marvel Family members.
Super Billy hits Raven for one wound and one unblockable on one die to finish her.

Round 3: Initiative Shazamily. Mary heals a wound and then shares the power. Mary avoids a swipe and flies over and punches Arsenal for one wound from height. Super Billy punches Tempest for a wound from height and misses an unblockable. Captain Billy can’t hit Nightwing.
Titans Go! Cyborg advances and shoots at Captain Billy, triggering Heroic Defense. Super Billy takes a swipe but blocks. Tempest takes a swipe from Mary, then throws out water that KO’s Super Billy (he was a Skrull!) and wounds Captain Billy. Captain Billy swaps with Billy Batson, who hits Nightwing for a thunderous wound. Arsenal can’t hit Mary but does back away from her. Nightwing punches Billy Batson for a wound and Captain Billy returns but Nightwing dodges the thunder.
Captain Billy punches Cyborg for two wounds from height.
Arsenal KO’s the Skrull and moves Cyborg. Tempest punches up at Mary for one wound from the water.
Captain Billy punches Cyborg for two wounds.
Arsenal can’t hit Mary and Cyborg can’t hit Captain Billy.

Round 4: Initiative Shazamily. Mary heals and shares the power but Captain Billy can’t hit Cyborg and Mary can’t hit Tempest.

Arsenal snipes Mary and she falls. Tempest moves forward two spaces and tosses water at Captain Billy, but misses.

Arsenal wounds Captain Billy. Billy Batson drops and misses his unblockable. Nightwing fails to hit Billy.

Round 5: Initiative Shazamily. Captain Billy heals a wound. Billy Batson whiffs an attack.
Tempest punches Billy Batson for two wounds. Both Nightwing and Tempest take wounds from the thunderous return of Captain Billy. Arsenal this Captain Billy with the Bolas, then two wounds. Nightwing can’t hit Captain Billy.

Captain Billy hits Arsenal for a wound.
Arsenal can’t hit Captain Billy.

Round 6: Initiative Titans. Titans Go! Bolas can’t hit. Arsenal hits Billy for a fourth wound. Nightwing can’t hit from range.

Nightwing can’t hit Captain Billy.
Captain Billy grabs the Bolas.
Nightwing hits Billy for a fifth wound and the Bolas go flying.
Captain Billy gets some luck and Nightwing, on height, whiffs defense and gets one-shotted.

Unit Summary: This one felt fair and close with the Marvel Family having some nice auto wounding, efficiency, and unblockables to counter some of the Titan tricks. It definitely felt like it could go either way.

Round 2: Initiative Marvel Shazamily. Captain Billy engages Invisible Woman and socks her for two wounds.
Invisible Woman can’t hit Captain Billy from height. Mister Fantastic hits Captain Billy for two wounds and Rubber Wrap keeps him from swapping out with Billy Batson.
Mary Marvel flies over and punches out Invisible Woman.
Human Torch Flames On Mary for two wounds. Then Human Torch Flames On again on Mary (after taking a swipe) on his own turn, then punches her for a wound from height. Thing targets Mary, but a Thunderous Arrival inflicts an auto wound on Thing and stops his turn. Mister Fantastic can’t hit Mary to finish her.
Mary shares the power. Captain Billy hits Human Torch for two wounds. Super Billy punches Mister Fantastic for a wound then hits him for an unblockable. Mary punches down on Mister Fantastic for a third wound.
Human Torch avoids two swipes but fails to Flame On. Then Mister Fantastic has Human Torch go and Torch avoids two swipes and hits his Flame On, KO’ing Mary and hitting Captain Billy for two wounds. Billy Batson comes in hits Torch with an auot wound and Human Torch fails to hit Billy with a punch. Thing goes full Clobberin Time, hitting Super Billy for 3 wounds, then one on a terrible follow up roll. Mister Fantastic makes Super Billy take a swipe to protect Billy with Heroic Duty. Super Billy blocks the attack.
Lava field wounds Billy Batson. Captain Billy SHAZAMS in and KO’s Human Torch. Captain Billy also takes a lava wound.


Round 3: Initiative Marvel Family. Billy heals a wound and then KO’s Mister Fantastic.
Mister Fantastic had OM1.
Captain Billy hits Thing for a wound.
Watcher removes OM3 from Super Billy and moves Thing. Thing takes height on Captain Billy and hits him for two wounds. Billy Batson pops but misses the unblockable.
OM3 is gone.
Watcher isn’t helpful. Thing hits Billy Batson for two wounds. Captain Billy drops but misses the thunder.
Lava field hits Thing, hits Captain Billy (who is KO’ed), Billy Batson drops and hits Thing for a wound, then lava field KO’s Billy Batson as well.
It’s Super Billy vs. Thing!

Round 4: Initiative Fantastic Four. Watcher does nothing useful and Thing can’t hit Super Billy from height.
Super Billy gets some dice luck and finishes Thing (one more shield and Thing would’ve gotten Rock Wall Defense). Thing was a Skrull! Watcher says screw this noise and peaces out.

Unit Summary: Another close, fun one. Definitely a strong combination with the three of them together, but Mary is soft enough that it didn’t feel broken by any means.

• SOLOMON, HERCULES, AND ATLAS: Removed [0] wounds from Mary

UNIT SUMMARY: I think she’s about right to bring the Marvel Family into the competitive sphere with other competitive armies. I’d probably hesitate to put the exact same power on Captain Marvel Jr. without further restricting things some.

Added two more games to the initial. I could see her possibly going up a tad in points, but I like how this plays and want to see her as is in the hands of other testers. 2-0 with both Billies, but either game felt like it was competitive and could go either way.
