I think it's a waste of time. That roll doesn't come up that often. Get your other guys mobillized to get the game going.

True...nobody in this thread claimed this was a wise play. The question is whether it is permissable or not to put order markers on a dead figure.

Up above, it says when all figures on an Army card are destroyed, the Army card is placed out of play. How can you put an order marker on something that is out of play? You can't.

I would ask this question as an analogy - can you put order markers on the Rechets of Bogdan before they are summoned, assuming that Iskra is going to summon them this round? I would say it depends on whether the army card for the Rechets is concidered in play before the Rechets are summoned.

But, bottom line, I don't think you can put an Order Marker on a card that is out of play.

I'd just like to say that last night I rolled a 20 to bring Thanos back for the first time.

Ironically, it came down to Thanos vs Surfer and Surfer had barely been injured. In the end, Surfer had an amazing roll that lent 5 damage to Thanos in 1 turn. As you can imagine, I lost

Funny, the first game of Marvelscape I played, almost the exact same thing happened. My Surfer blasted an unscratched Thanos... SIX SKULLS! Thanos rolls defense dice... SIX MORE SKULLS! and one blank. Thanos was the last survivor, so the game ended right there. The Surfer is by far my favorite superhero out of the first 10; it was great to see him save the day.

To me, this implies that you can have order markers on an inactive card. If not, then it seems to me that they would have said "Remove any Order Markers..." instead of "Do not reveal any Order Markers..." It's clear that, once a card is out of play, having turn markers on and taking turns with an army card are not one and the same. So, I think it follows that, since having turn markers on an out-of-play card doesn't imply taking turns with that card, you should be able to place turn markers on an out-of-play card.

I was sure I could find something in the rules that absolutely ruled out putting order markers on a dead card; I really wanted it to be illegal. But I just can't find the text that forbids it.

My thinking was, we know that a unit who is off the board, but has the possibility to re-enter the fight, is not a unit "you control," because of the fact that un-Dropped AE don't interfere with Valiant Army defense. Therefore, all we need is a ruling that you can only place order markers on units you control. Couldn't find a thing. That "out of play" line is the best I can do, and I don't think it's conclusive.

Then I got to thinking. In terms of design possibilities, it's good that the designers didn't rule out putting order markers on a dead card. Right now, none of the powers that activate before play or after death require an order marker to use, but that could change. For instance, you could have a power like:

Quote:
NO REST FOR THE WICKED
If you reveal an order marker on Anubian Mummies and all figures on this card have been destroyed, you may roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 8 or higher, place all Anubian Mummies adjacent to any figures you control.
Alternately, you could have a power like the Drop that required you to commit order markers to have a chance of getting your troops into the game.

So I would say that:

1. it would have been the easiest thing in the world to explicitly prohibit putting order markers on dead cards, but the writers choose not to, and

2. that's a good thing, because it allows for before-entry or after-death powers that require order markers, a very good possibility to have open.

Try Thanos and Marro Warriors. It's SICK.

If Thanos manages to die just keep playing hide and spawn with the Warriors until he comes back. Cheaper figures with high defense (Like Ne Gok Sa) also work well with Thanos.

The other day I managed to bring Thanos back with only a wounded Ne Gok Sa on the board. NGS died the next turn. Fun stuff since Thanos came back for the win.

All hail the Infinity Guantlet!!!

Holy crap! I never noticed that it said turns! I just assumed it was every round. Thanos is better than I thought!(I still thought he was pretty good though)

Well, in the comics, Death is a person (well, an entity), and a female (sometimes). Thanos is in love with her, and they have an off-and-on relationship... sometimes, they're in love, sometimes, she hates and REJECTS him.

Plus, he stops being dead.
