Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Vote for Initial
Yea really liking the look of him, though thank god, we created the secret identity mechanic! This is our third completely different person named Scorpion!
Semi-Retired C3G Hero (and first Official Member of the C3G Target Audience!) The correct way to add C3G playtests to posts. My favorite day EVER on heroscapers. Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Vote for Initial
Can't Scorpion shoot fireballs or whatever? I assumed he would have range.
He seems pretty solidly Scorpion, so, looking good - even if the fact he and Sub-Zero don't share a class will always bother me. Yea JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Vote for Initial
On the class front, unless we want to blanket all these guys as Fighters or something to that effect, they are going to all be pretty unique for the most part. That's sort of the charm of MK, is that the roster varies on species, occupations, powers, and expertise etc. Scorpion is a Ninja, Sub-Zero is either an Assassin or Warrior. Neither would make sense as the other. Unless we blanket them all as Fighters, which would be a bit odd giving Luke Cage that leadership over all of them.
As for the fireball thing. He didn't have a ranged fire attack until the 5th game in the series(currently on 10), and that's about the same time he started using swords pretty prominently. Falls under trying to get the most iconic aspects of the character, lunchbox as has been thrown around. Spear, teleport punch, ninja spectre, and vengeance/anger etc. |

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Vote for Initial
I've been sort of interpreting combat teleport as the blanks representing him catching people off guard with his swords/hellfire long enough to get off his teleport punch personally.

If we want the possibility of either, we could go with something like:

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Initial Playtesti
Just as a layman, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are the two ninjas, like funky mirror images, like Ryu and Ken. I have no idea if that's accurate, but it's the image I have of them.
Definitely in favor of sticking with the earlier, more iconic version, sans fireballs, if that's the case. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Initial Playtesti
Sub-Zero, Reptile, Smoke, Ermac, Noob, Rain etc. are commonly referred to as the "ninjas" of the game. However, Scorpion is the only actual Ninja. The rest just started off as palette swaps for memory sake in the early games, so they shared the same outfits with different color schemes.
Sub-Zero makes it very clear that he and the Lin Kuei are not ninjas though, as this funny little video will show: Either way though, they're all referred to as the ninjas. |

Yeah, I was also surprised to discover all but one of the 'pallette swap ninjas' weren't actually ninjas.

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Initial Playtesti
Just clarifying something:
COMBAT TELEPORT 3 After attacking an adjacent figure with Scorpion, if you rolled at least one blank you may place him on any empty space within 3 spaces of his original placement and attack one additional time. When Scorpion starts to Teleport, he will not take any leaving engagement attacks I'd just like to clarify, I'm intending for him to be able to teleport after his second blow, but not attack - is that what it says right now? |

Re: The Book of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) - Initial Playtesti
I believe you'd need verbiage stating Combat Teleport can only be used once per turn.
