The Book of Star-Lord
The Book of Star-Lord C3G MARVEL WAVE 22 COSMIC FORCES Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a HeroClix figure from the Hammer of Thor set. Its model number and name are #025 / Star-Lord. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - When J'Son of Spartax, heir to the Spartoi Empire, crash landed on Earth, he was found and cared for by Meredith Quill, a human woman. Though he returned to space shortly thereafter, he left something behind - an unborn child, Peter Jason Quill. Spending his childhood unaware of his legacy, the remainder of the universe was not, and an assault on his home by the Badoon ended in the death of his mother. Eventually, Peter took to the stars as well under the name Star-Lord. Despite his nominal role as hero, Star-Lord eventually found himself incarcerated on the intergalactic prison Kyln. Fortunately, the universe was at stake, and during the Annihilation Wave he was freed by the man called Nova and became an undeniable asset to the United Front. When another cosmic menace reared its ugly head, he was called upon to form a suicide squad from the outlaws and crooks from all corners of the galaxy. Yet, somehow, they survived - and on that day, the Guardians of the Galaxy were born! _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
NAME = STAR-LORD
SECRET IDENTITY = PETER QUILL SPECIES = SPARTOI UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = LEADER PERSONALITY = INTREPID SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 5 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 7 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 250 RAGTAG TACTICS If no Unique Heroes in your army have the same Species or Class, each Unique Hero you control within 5 clear sight spaces of Star-Lord rolls an additional die when defending or attacking. DISTRACTING FIRE SPECIAL ATTACK Range 5. Attack 2. Immediately after rolling attack dice for this special attack against an opponent's figure, if Star-Lord rolls at least one skull, you may move Star-Lord or another figure you control within 5 spaces of Star-Lord up to 2 spaces. Figures moved by this special attack never take leaving engagement attacks from the defending figure. After attacking with this special attack, Star-Lord may attack 2 additional times. LUCKY DEFENSE When defending against an attack, if Star-Lord rolls at least one blank, you may add 1 automatic shield to whatever is rolled. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
Ragtag Tactics has a number agreement issue:
Quote:
RAGTAG TACTICS While every Unique Hero in your army has a different Species and a different Class, each Unique Hero you control within 5 clear sight spaces of Star-Lord rolls an additional die when defending or attacking. Last edited by SirGalahad; July 29th, 2014 at 08:18 PM. |

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
Looks great to me! I love how Rag-Tag Tactician rewards diverse army builds.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
I like it!
My only worry right now is that the SA is not very clear on when the figure moves. It could lead to some messy situations. For example: Star-Lord attacks Spidey, who dodges. Which figures moves first? Could I use it to move Darkseid or Iron Monger adjacent to the figure before they can roll defense? Just spitballing for some clarity: After attacking with this special attack, if Star-Lord rolled at least one skull, you may move Star-Lord or another figure you control within 5 spaces of Star-Lord up to 2 spaces and attack again with this special attack. Star-Lord may not attack more than 3 times in a single turn. Figures moved by this special attack never take leaving engagement attacks from the defending figure. You could also try: Immediately after rolling attack dice for this special attack, if Star-Lord rolls at least one skull, you may move Star-Lord or another figure you control within 5 spaces of Star-Lord up to 2 spaces. Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
I think the timing on the first one makes more sense to me, but the second is definitely more succinct... any other thoughts there?
Yeah, I'm hoping it can help give some currently underplayed standalone figures some playtime - which thematically fits, but also plays with the goals of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy run, which took a bunch of old, random, forgotten weirdos from Marvel history and threw them together on a team. With any luck Star-Lord will do the same! JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
As its currently worded, Rag Tag Tactician would boost adjacent enemies as well. Is that what you intended? If not, here's a simple fix:

Re: The Book of Star-Lord (Design Phase)
I wonder if the "Hey, look at that!" power from Trickster might be more fun here than Lucky Defense. But I am in love with Ragtag Tactician.

Heh. That's a fun suggestion, quozl.
