Dwindle, on Kickstarter & Greenlight!!
UPDATE: Dwindle is now live on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight!! Any support in either place is hugely appreciated!
I know I haven't been on here much recently; I've been quite busy working on my Game Design & Development degree. This semester I've been in a course in which about 24 of us have been working on a game all semester. My classmates elected me Artificial Intelligence Lead at the beginning of the project, and it's been super busy/crazy/fun. The game we've been developing is called Dwindle. You're the foreman of a team of miners, trapped underground with little hope of survival. I designed/wrote most of the dynamic mine generation and AI character behavior, and I can definitely say it's all super cool. We've decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign for the game to finish it out over the summer for release. If any of you guys would like to support it, that'd be awesome, look for it in a few weeks! Either way, you can check out the trailer our amazing art and sound teams put together: Dwindle Website DwindleGame on Facebook DwindleGame on Twitter Last edited by awesomeunleashed; June 10th, 2016 at 02:47 PM. |

Layout reminds me of an old game I liked to play called dungeon keeper 2. Thanks for sharing.

Looks cool! You said you developed it, did you use a game engine? What programming languages?
I'm still very new to software development, I have done very basic 2d games with sound and graphics, and a RNG with basic UI just to take input from a user and generate numbers. Only a hobby. |

I'm going to meet a bud that's into programming pretty soon, he is a step ahead of me, maybe I'll learn some things. And I'm going to introduce him to heroscape ![]() |

Haven't heard of either of those, heh. Unity does accept JS though. Really, though, once you've got a good handle on how programming languages work, all you have to do to use a new one is be good at looking stuff up. Believe me, I've basically had to teach myself four languages at once on the job before... |

C# definitely seems like the obvious choice for your average Windows dev purposes though. I know C# has a few options for working other platforms as well. One of the things I like about C++ is that, given the right 3rd-party library (and there are quite a few decent open source ones) you can write the same code once for every platform. You would still need to write your own code for any lower-level platform-specific functionality not provided by the library you're using, but if the library provides everything you need it's pretty simple. I wrote a Dominion deck shuffler with JUCE that I can run on my Windows 10 PC or my Android phone (I could probably run it on OS X, iOS, Linux, and Windows phones as well without any changes, but I don't have any of those platforms available to compile right now).
