Helm's Deep battle
I built this map Friday when my newest figures came in from the hasbo website. I ran out of hexes so it is a little inacurrate to
the real helm's deep. The scenario rules I used can be found in the maps and scenarios section. I used all the figures I had which are shown in the pics. The matchup was Jandar, Ullar and Vydar vs. Einar and Utgar. Defenders Jandar- Sir Gilbert AE Tarn Vikings Finn Thorgrim Raelin Sergent Alexander 4th Mass. Knights of Weston Vydar- Agent Carr Nakita agents Krav Mage agents Blastatrons Ullar- Syvarris Warriors of Ashra Attackers Utgar- Death Walker 9k Zetain Guards Grimnak Blade gruts Swog rider Arrow gruts Ne-gok-sa Marro warriors Dumutef guard Anubian wolves Deathreavers Deathwalkers Mimring Einar- Sparticus Retiarius Crixus Roman Legionnaires Roman Archers Roman Balista(my custom) Ninjas of northern wind(x2 unique squad) Kozuke samurai(x2 unique squad) Izumi samurai The setup I wish I had more pictures but my camera ran out of space on the memery card The battle took hours to finish but I had a blast. I played myself 1 on 1 and relized 1 on 1 didn't realy work well on this map. The attackers would move forward then the defenders would counter with a hail of fire untill Crixus sacrificed himself to blow up the wall. Then it became a battle. The blast took out 3 wall segments and all blastatrons. The orcs charged the gap and were reinforced when the outer glyphs turned out to be the +1 and +2 defence. Romans brought their siege balista towards the door and put 9 wounds on it before being broken by Syvarris. Sparticus finished the door. Focus turned towards the gap in the wall and the door was forgotten for a while. The knights with sergent Alex. and Sir gilbert halted the orc advance. Several turns passed of brutal hand to hand combat and finaly, heavy losses Grimnak advanced into the fortress after chomping Alexander and several knights. It didn't last long though before somehow a knight got lucky and killed him. The gap was safe, for now. Atention turned to the gate where WoA had killed Sparticus but were all picked off by marro's. Ne-gok-sa managed to work his way to the gate and engaged Thorgrim. Finn and Vikings came in to help but Ne-gok-sa mindshackled Thorgrim! Carr was sent in because he had the strongest attack against Ne-gok-sa's defence and some how Carr was also mindshackled. I couldn't belive it! Now the Vikings showed their strenghth by defeating Carr and Thorgrim before any major damage was done. Finn then made my day by slipping several hits passed Ne-gok-sa's defence( 8, 6+1 from glyph+1from Thorgrim) The game ended soon after with the wall units mopping up the reminates of the opposing army. Units left- Syvarris 2 health Raelin 3 health Finn 3 health 3 Vikings 3 4th mass. 1 Knight 2 Krav Maga All Nakita agents Most Valuable Units- 4th mass. Though I didn't mention them in the report much the held the far wall and kept the +2 def glyph open most of the game. I'm begining to see why they have a good reputation around here. This battle was a little lopsided for the fact that the defenders had the majority of my ranged figures. This map works better as an odd numder of players game. I played another game with random armies and 2 attackers instead of 1. The result was defenders winning by the hairs on their chins with DW 9k and Thorgrim left. This map is extremely fun to play and I suggest everyone try their own version of it if they ever have an odd number of players. It's back and stronger than ever.
