Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
So what's the best to determine clear line of sight? Eyeballing it? Dowel rods? Even laser pointers? Post your thoughts here.

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
I eyeball it. If they don't like it, I'll just attack something else. If I can't, 20 D rolls can decide any dispute.

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
Well personally I think that eyeballs are good enough for anything outside of tournament play. Even then if there's ever a dispute do what the rulebook says: You and your opponent roll the D20, high roller wins. I think that laser pointers and dowel rods can be useful, but if you really need it you might be too into the game.

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
Personally I think laser pointers/other light sources are best. You can undeniably prove that you have clear line of sight if you can see a light on the figure's hit zones.
The problem with dowel rods is that you can easily knock over your opponent's figure. Quote:

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
I laughed when a guest came over for a game of scape and he had a laser pointer with him. He didn't end up using it but said they are quite popular in tournament play.
My fat head sometimes will not fit in between all the LOS blockers I put on maps so I was actually thinking of picking one up. |

That was my point behind the laser pointers.

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
I've tried strings and lazer pointers, and both are VERY impractical. I'll eyeball it any day.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" Acts 16:31 PM me if you would like to know more. |

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
I used a string to show my daughter line of sight as she has some trouble doing line of sight from the figure's perspective. But now she wants to use a string for everything!

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
I'm definentally a fan of eyeballing it or calling in a third neutral person to decide which way it goes.
Without dark, there is no light. Without bad HScape figs, there are no good ones. Dund is important, therefore |

Hadn't thought about that. Good point.

Re: Dowel rods or Laser pointers?
The rules say that if there is a dispute regarding LOS then you both roll the d20 to "decide"
This has been discussed alot and basically comes down to...if you are playing with someone who is overly nitpicky about LOS then you shouldnt be playing with them. |
