EDIT: I'll hold for a moment to see how this ends up. Thematically, I think making it work like Isamu and include a 'must not end this move engaged restriction' is the best way to make it mechanically clean and thematically evocative. Hell, at that stage just give him Vanish 7 - it kind of does everything you want in an existing power.




I think that should work. I don't think it invalidates your initial, especially since this guy's an extremely simple character - I think we should be able to tie a bow on this guy in a handful of games, nothing seems unreasonable here.

While Orko is casting a Spell, whenever a special power on an Army Card or glyph refers to the Magical Defense special power, it refers to this special power as well. Before Orko attacks with his normal attack or casts a spell, you must roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 7 or lower, Orko cannot attack or cast Spells for the rest of the turn.

DISAPPEARING ACT 7
If Orko is attacked by a normal attack and at least 1 skull is rolled, roll the 20-sided die to disappear. If you roll 7 or higher, Orko takes no damage and may immediately move up to 4 spaces. Orko can only disappear if he ends his disappearing move not adjacent to any enemy figures. When Orko is moved with Disappearing Act, he will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Updating the SP as well since that wording seems pretty clean.

Edit: I prefer the not engaged at all. If he's running away, he's running away.

Not the same weight is different from no use at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he went down 20 or so points, but he's feeling fine to me - I'd have no issues fast-tracking this guy after another set. Not the first time changes have been made mid testing, and this is less than plenty.

Definitely. He was playing a lot like Dick Grayson Robin, but that's Robin's main trick, so I expect he'll go down a bit (which I'm totally fine with).

Liu Kang runs forwards, running onto the lava field - he blasts Don first, rolling three skulls and one shield which Zatanna turns into a blank. Donatello is taken completely by surprise and fails to block at all, and is immolated. Liu Kang then blasts Mikey, inflicting a wound.
Leonardo and Raph advance.
Liu Kang moves to lower ground and then blasts Mikey twice - the first shot is blocked, but the second rolls three skulls with Zatanna’s help and blasts Mikey for two wounds.

Round Two

Zatanna casts Laropmet Noisrevni - however, the Turtles have planned their strategy to be prepared for her inversion of time.
Justice League Dark claim the initiative. Liu Kang rushes up to Mikey and kills him with one well placed blow from height before blasting Leo to no avail
Leo, who has both OM 1 and OM 3, activates the 2 on Raph. (Mikey had the X.) Raph and Leo both leap to height and strike Liu Kang twice - Raph’s blows are blocked but Leo’s are savage, inflicting three wounds and leaving the martial artist bleeding out, near death.
Zatanna uses a mystical trap door to switch places with Liu Kang before casting Gnikaw Eramthgin, sending both Raph and Leo fleeing to low ground - she strikes Leo in the back as he flees before flying to high ground.
Leo leaps up and strikes Zatanna twice from low ground, but thanks to her defences being bolstered by Liu Kang she holds firm.
Zatanna points her magic wand at Leo and sparks shoot from it, inflicting a wound on the Turtle.
Both Leo and Zatanna’s feet are scorched by the lava rock.

Round Three

The Turtles claim the initiative. Leo commands Raph, activating his X, and he leaps up and strikes Zatanna twice, despite her being bolstered by Liu Kang - he inflicts a wound with his second blow. Leo delivers two blows to Zatanna from low ground, one of which lands, inflicting a wound.
Zatanna uses another magical trap door to swap places with Orko, who swiftly Hypnotises Leonardo, eliminating his second turn.
Orko attempts to cast Hellfire: Ignition, but bungles the casting.
Raph strikes Orko twice - his first blow gets through, and Orko, though bolstered by Liu Kang, still takes two wounds. Against the second blow, Orko disappears and runs away.
Mikey strikes Axe Cop twice, but his blows are blocked.
Liu Kang runs forwards and blasts Raph twice from low ground, inflicting a wound with his first shot.
The Turtles are unharmed by the lava rock. Orko would be burned to death by it, but the fact that he hovers saves him.

Round Four

The Turtles claim the initiative and Leo activates the X on Raph, who charges Liu Kang, stabbing him from height and taking him down (eliminating Justice League Dark’s second turn). Raph then turns and slashes at Orko, who disappears and runs away. Leo charges Orko, who, again, disappears and runs away.
Orko charges Leonardo and sets him alight with Hellfire: Ignition, inflicting a wound - but Orko is playing with forces beyond his understanding, and he himself burns alive.
At Leo’s command, Raph charges Zatanna and strikes her twice, inflicting a wound. Leo rushes forwards.
Wasp flies up, engaging and irritating both turtles before stinging Leo, causing him to collapse.

Round Five

Justice League Dark claims the initiative. Wasp stings Raph, inflicting a wound.
Raph takes Wasp out before striking Zatanna to no avail.
Zatanna moves to equal ground with Raph and strikes him, inflicting one wound normally and one through a Sleight of Hand.
Raph knocks Zatanna out.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles victorious - Raphael 4 wounds.

Overview: I really, really like this guy - he's a tonne of cheap, silly fun, a low cost spell-battery that can avoid attacks but might screw up any spell he attempts to cast. Since he's no longer particularly good at tying enemies up (though still not terrible at it - he can still rush into melee to start with and force enemies to attack him or take a leaving engagement), I'd be tempted to bring him in at closer to around 70/80, since 90% of the value of this guy comes from what spells you can take with him. Still, he's the cheapest way to access spells in the game, which works, since he's the only guy who might botch them. I really like him!
Can I just ask, though, why so many of the guys I'm playtesting lately are prime Justice League Dark candidates? Even though they're not even part of the DC Universe? That's Liu Kang, The Tick and Orko, to greater and lesser degrees!
