Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Thanks for the tests and thoughts all. I’m giving some thought on which direction to go here. We may need to reduce the special attack to 3 to stabilize his offensive output, but that is a significant nerf and would likely take Aang in the sub-200 points level.

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Maybe do that and send him out at 200 and see how he does?

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
I think a regular attack of 4 would make sense with a special attack of 3. Would be less of a nerf and make it more of a decision choosing between the two types of attacks

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
FWIW, More food for thought. Might be too big of a tweak, but wanted to put thoughts down. Change regular attack to 4. Change special attack to 2 with a cap of 3 uses per turn instead of 2 uses. Keep Water at -1 to move and defense, but change Fire to skulls count as double. Then for his once per game outburst allow 4 uses with an additional attack die for each attack ( 4 attacks of 3).

Re: The Book of Aang (breathing)
I usually like tension between normal and special attacks, but I don't think it's needed here. The special attack represents bending, while Aang's normal attack is just a melee attack - and Aang isn't a particularly strong guy or skilled in hand to hand combat. Aang should be using his special most of the time because that's how he fights thematically, IMO.
One other thought is to nerf the Water and Air portions a bit. Fire and Earth were not getting used as often, and the -1 Defense from Water sticking around for each attack really increased Aang's offense, especially for the turn where he gets 4 attacks. So limiting the -1 Defense to only on one attack keeps Aang's offense from spiraling out of control while still keeping the Water option useful. And dropping the Air movement limits Aang's kiting. Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
That's a good change. Double skulls for fire is also a good option.

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Those look like solid changes to rein him in a bit.

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Should there be a size restriction on the air. Should aang be able to push anti-monitor?

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Good call, limiting to small or medium makes sense.

Re: The Book of Aang (public testing)
Thanks Bats! Looks like some poor luck there, but with the wins in the other tests, I think we're probably looking good here.
I'll propose for Final Editing. |
