My schedule for the weekend got pushed back a little - might still get him tonight, but if not, I'll hit him tomorrow!

Right now I'm planning on running one army with the GCW (to see how that feels with him being more a secondary bonding option/clean-up hero instead of primary GCW bonding option), and then one more generalist army.

This was one of those classic "everything was going great until Wolverine showed up" matches.

The Simian team was rolling the Crime Fighters early. Nothing to do with Six-Gun really, just a result of the GCW wrecking shop. Human Torch did a lot of damage against them but still burned out, and Luke Cage and Spider-Girl couldn't stand up to the multi-attacks either. The match ended up coming down to 2 GCW, unwounded Solovar, and unwounded Six-Gun, versus Wolverine.

Six-Gun got a couple attacks in during this period: despite not getting the double attacks on the GCW's OM, he was still valuable for getting some potshots in. Avoided unnecessarily exposing him or Solovar early.

The GCW got some initial damage in on Wolverine, but then he flipped out and took down the last remaining Warriors, setting the stage for a Six-Gun Gorilla vs Wolverine showdown. Six-Gun took a couple shots at him and then went for an Oracle-boosted normal attack in an attempt to deliver a killing blow, but he came up just short and left Wolverine standing with 1 Life.

This was perfect for Wolverine, because 1 Life is the exact amount of Life he needs to kill most things. He took out Six-Gun and then dismantled Solovar and Oracle. Solovar got him down to 1 Life again! But also couldn't finish the job, resulting in a Wolverine victory.

Ended up just replaying the same armies as last match because it was fun, and I wanted to see if Six-Gun got to go up against more than just Wolverine this time.

Which he did. The opening seemed to be going better for the Crime Fighters this time around, but they ended up taking out one less Gorilla City Warrior before Six-Gun picked off Luke Cage and killed an OM with him; the remaining GCWs were able to run over and beat the crap out of Wolverine before he had a chance to go berserk.

Six-Gun's offensive output wasn't that hot in this game, but he did tank a few attacks from Shocker, so that was something.

The GCW had a big initial onslaught, but they couldn't bring Robot down quite as fast as they wanted (thanks in part to a couple SA whiffs from Six-Gun), and he had time for a couple OMs. The Skull/Robot machine managed to rack up some damage, and get enough of a headstart to win the day pretty convincingly.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: The GCW are pretty tough to begin with, and giving them a ranged special attacker (one with a better SA than Gorilla-Man) to pair with is potent.

If I'd realized just how strong they were I might have put them up against like the Titans instead of Luke Cage; they feel very tough on the scale of conventional straightforward paper synergy type armies. I ran that third game to get a sense of how they stacked up against the really scary generalist mechanical stuff in C3G, and they weren't quite so tough there.

I think the change to just one attack when he doesn't get an OM is a good one. He feels viable but not overpowering with the GCW to me; I ended up focusing on that synergy since it seemed like the area of greater mechanical concern, rather than exploring his other options.

Thanks for the nudge Archie, been really busy with a move but things are starting to settle down. If there are 0 complaints from anyone about the 250 price point then I'm ready to move forward.

I think the change in how they work with the GCW was enough to settle any fears I had about him being better with the GCW than without. Now he seems pretty solid at 250 with or without them. Also means he's not as dangerous when paired up with other dangerous bonders like Red Skull. pre-yea
