Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
Hey all. I don't know what was going on with my thread subscription except it looks like it was never set. Sorry I didn't chime in sooner. Dave and I won't be able to be there by 10am, but we will bring enough sets to build a couple more maps and should arrive by Noon. We'll have build instructions for a few options with us, I'm looking over what is listed by others now.
Bistro wasn't able to make it, and he is very sad. |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
Great night. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. It'd been way, way, way too long since I've gotten to do something like that. It was an absolute blast. I hope it isn't a whole year again before I can do that again!
Thanks to everybody who put the event together and thanks for the great memories, everyone. "Comics are a wellspring of imagination; comics can tell stories cheaply that other mediums cannot express. Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
That was all kinds of fun! I went 2w-3l but enjoyed myself all the same. Great turn out and excellent company all around.
Super huge thank you's to West, Oliver, and Lauren for the ton of work they did to pull this off. It felt very smooth and I know you were running your butts off! |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
Raleigh (Apex) NHSD was a success! I saw everyone have fun and use good sportsmanship. There was a huge turnout and great competition. I really enjoyed every match I played. I hope we can have more events like this one. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.
Here are some pictures I took during the gaming: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The last picture is my army getting started in the last round. I went 3-2 with Taelord, Raelin (RotV,) 2X Omnicron Snipers and 2X Deathreavers. |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
What a great day of Heroscaping!! I was happy to see such a good turnout. Thanks to those I played (Darkblade, bolo's son, dafe31, dafe31's son, and patzymur's son) for some excellent games and some excellent sportsmanship!
I'd also like to extend a sincere thank you to those that helped put the day together and everyone that helped contribute to the prize pool. I'm glad that so many people got to walk away with new toys! |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
I went 4-1.
I ran, as usual, Blasts x2 and Glads x2. I brought along Braxas and Me-Burq-Sa this time. I'm glad I did, too. I went 4-1. I played nameisjeff, dafe's son (I think?), Superman, lost to Lt. Dan (Bolt... oooof that's nasty), and then played one of the other Jeffs. Losing points had me 4th, after all, there were some epic games by the other 4-1 players. 495 losing points? Goodness gracious that's some good stuff right there. There were some epic games to play and watch. Good stuff, all. =D "Comics are a wellspring of imagination; comics can tell stories cheaply that other mediums cannot express. Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
Our Raleigh NHSD 2009 was an incredible experience. It was one of the most enjoyable days of recent memory. Yeah, I won, but it would have been a great time if I had gone 0 & 5. Everyone that I played against was a great person, competitor, and sportsman.
My son also had a great time, and hearing him talk about how cool he thought it was is itself a highlight of the day. It was closer than anyone can imagine. I went 5 & 0. Oliver Upshaw and Lieutenant Dan went 4 & 1 each, losing only to me. How close were those games? My game with Oliver was called for time. I scored 497 points and he scored 495. Yes, 2 points! And those 2 points were literally the difference between 1st and 2nd place. Lieutenant Dan & I went the distance when we played, but Lt. Dan also scored 495 points. So Oliver & Lt. Dan were tied with 4 & 1, each scoring 495 on their one loss. Oliver won the tie break based on strength of schedule. So, over 5 matches I scored 2700 and 2nd and 3rd scored 2655 (less than 2% difference). There were also others who went 4 & 1. That’s unbelievably close! It was also unbelievably fun, and I was unbelievably lucky through it all. Amongst the prizes that I collected there are two that are unusually personal and I’d like to extend extra thanks: First, the conceptual drawing of Master Woo signed and numbered by Heroscape designer Wayne Yee, donated by Hogg. Thanks Hogg! The other was an Agent Skahen & since Bunjee was in attendance I was able to get her card signed & Bunjee commemorated the championship on the card. Now that card is my trophy for this tournament. Thanks Bunjee! Also, thanks to Sir Crapalot, Granite-M, and Oliver Upshaw for all the work they put into making the tournament happen; Heroscapers, House of Mouse and all those contributing to the prize table; and to everyone else who helped out and/or came to the tournament. Pressure’s off! Now I’m going to relax on my laurels! Oh – Thanks to my army: Braxas, Migol Ironwill, Axegrinders x3, and Isamu. Namaste, 'zymur |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
Today was awsome! Thanks to everybody who turned out to make the event a memorible event for some time to come. My buddies had an absolute blast, and my friend Mike just wasnt happy till he got me home, built a map that we saw at the tournament off the website, and played a drafted game. (I will post the details for you if you want, just send me a PM If you want to see them posted for the drafting game.) The drafting game went just as horrible as my day went today, but i seriously could not complain.
Most of the people that I played with today had luck of the dice. Even me having to play my buddy who I gave a ride to there..( Can you imagine how the car ride home was? haha...) who beat me. ![]() Basically today was an overall blast. I really wish that I lived closer ( either Cary or Apex again.. ) so that I could come by more often and play. Looking forward to the bigger tournaments that are possibly going to be in the future. Just so you know, the army that I ran today was Jotun ( Green Giant ), Protectors of Ullar x2 and Alltega. And my Alltega's bolt has officially been temp named "Bolt of whiff" Cuz I rolled 2 1's today while trying to take that roll. It really caused me to not use it at all in the 5th round. Who knows what would have happened if I used it again. heh. Hope the stats for the tournament are posted soon, so we all can check out the literal epic games that were played. Thanks and goodnight! Sometimes you have to take a beating to deliver a beating. Braxas is not going to kill you. I promise.. ~My famous last words, before Braxas killed Taelord with Acid Spit Special Attack~ |

Re: Raleigh NHSD, 2009 "Cage Match"
I had a blast at the Apex NHSD tourny. It was so much fun and I can't believe how well I did, 3-2 with 4X Omnicron Snipers, Zetacron and ROTV Realin. I had some of the best matches ever. Both of my losses were to Stingers, so the first thing I did when I got home was to take all my Stingers, put them on a map and Kill them. HA HA HA.
A big thanks to the staff at All Fun and Games for supporting this great tournment and a really big Thanks to Sir Crapalot, Granite-M and Oliver Upshaw for setting up the maps and running the show. You guys really made a difference. I would also like to thank the guys I played, Celtic Warrior, XvBizark, Steve, Elstree and Mike P, for some really good games and a great time. On another note my son Jeffrey M did really well and came in 6th place recieving a pack of WoA and Roborats. He was very excited about his first tourny and happy that he did well. He went 3-2 with 2X Knights, Sir Dendrik 2X Axegrinders, Migol Ironwill, Guilty and Isamu. Overall it was a great time and I can't wait till we do it again. Till next time great 'scaping to all and to all a great 'scape. If a chicken and a 1/2, can lay an egg and a 1/2 in a day and a 1/2, how long would it take a grasshopper with one wooden leg to kick all the seeds out of a cucumber? ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit: I think next time we have a tournament we should do some kind of team based tournament, draw random names at the tournament and pair people up etc. Last edited by Altron_ZERO; October 18th, 2009 at 09:50 AM. |
