The major way I've been playing heroscape during "quarantine" has been by building 20 armies that are slightly underpowered and then rolling a D20 to see which army I play. We've talked a bit about it in the latest podcast about how it worked at my birthday party. OEAO and I have been talking a little about it and thought we might bring the listeners (both of them) in on the fun.

With Gen Con being cancelled Ken Con will be happening in full swing during the same time frame. Attendance will be somewhere in the 10-12 range. It's mostly local guys with a few celebrities from Arizona and Minnesota. We will be having a heroscape tourney described by the above paragraph where each player will get a random army every round based on your roll of the D20. You cannot play the same army twice. There will be varying levels of player skill but everyone will have at least played heroscape a handful of times.

Where both of the listeners come in, we'd like you guys to post which army do you think will have the most wins at the end of the tournament. We're thinking around 6-8 rounds 40 minute games. Armies are around the 350 point range with some exceptions.

Post which army you think will have the most wins at the end of the day. If you think one army is way to overpowered mention that as well. We'll do a podcast at the end of the tournament talking though how things fared, what army surprised, what army disappointed, and what army climbed to the top.

I vote for army 10. It has chainfighters!

I like 12, 13 and 20.
I'll take a hard pass on 6.

First pass, 2,13, and 20 seem the strongest in that meta but I might want to do a bit more analysis before I lock those in.

I agree with 2, 13 and 20 all being good. I think number 9 is also pretty good. WWL is going to be tough to bring down in this meta.

The tournament is going to be on Friday the 31st. You have until that morning (8am) to get your votes in. We'll be podcasting that evening about the results (at least that's the current plan). The maps will be:

I'd say 2 is the strongest, with 9, 17, and 20 following closely.

I’ll take 13 in a mixed-skill environment. I don’t think it’s the strongest army, but it’s pretty forgiving. 2 is an honorable mention for the same reason, but I’m not voting for Stingers.

We ran this format at my place for 4 games going through 8 of the armies between the two of us. Of the armies we played 12 and 9 won by the biggest margins by far, though 20 and 2 are looking pretty beastly as well.
