I tried dok's ability box fix (copied the code text into a .txt, renamed it w/o extension, replaced the file, etc). When I tried to switch to Dungeon Set, the card image became blank with the various editing fields floating above a white background. Same thing happened when I installed the high-res template. None of the colored images show up...just a white expanse of emptiness with the editing fields in the foreground. Any ideas? I have all the latest MSE templates from the original post and the only "expansion" I have is the high-res template.
Seeing the fields but no card blank suggests that the blanks are either not in the correct folder, not named properly, or not coded properly in the game or style file. Also, make sure that the code is looking for the proper image type - jpg or png, depending on what you are using.

Re: MSE - Easy Army Card Creator (V2.4 for CHCG24)

I just realized that I am getting blanks only on Valkrill cards... probably because Valkrill is not included in the high-res set. Duh.

Oh that's too bad, because the high-res sets look so much better.

Re: MSE - Easy Army Card Creator (V2.4 for CHCG24)

There is a hi-rez valkrill card out there somewhere but it isn't formated to the correct size. If anyone manages to get everything lined up in this program to work properly for all the Hi-Rez cards that would be awesome. I use this thing all the time and I gotta say it saves on a lot of work. However the best results are still found in slowly doing things the long and tedious way.

If it may help, I have formated the hi-rez Valkrill card to use it with MSE.

1) Install MSE and the Optional V2.4 High-Resolution Export Templates as explained in the OP.

2) Download this Valkrill card, and save it in your "Magic Set Editor 2\data\heroscape-hires-ds.mse-style\cardblanks" folder.

3) Go in the "Magic Set Editor 2\data\heroscape-hires-ds.mse-style" folder and make a backup copy of the "style" file.

4) Copy-paste this code to be the new content of the "style" file.
Code:
mse version: 0.3.8

full name: Dungeon Set Styles (Hi-Res)
icon: card-sample.png

And voilà, that's all.
The new code allows usage of the Valkrill.jpg by MSE.
It also does some fine tuning work to align everything when using the new Valkrill card.

EDIT 5-14-2011: Little changes in the code to better align Move, Range, Attack and Defense values on Valkrill cards. Thanks to Sertorius.

Thanks Dalu. Works and is certainly better than the lower-res option for poor neglected Valkrillie.

Re: MSE - Easy Army Card Creator (V2.4 for CHCG24)

Hello again.

I'm using the hi-res Dungeon Set cards exclusively now from start to finish and loving them. When we print these out for our customs, in a lot of cases they look even better than the original 'Scape cards. Very nice. Quick question:

I notice that when using the hi-res template, the Ability Text area is rather constricted... that is, there is a good deal of space on the right-hand side which isn't utilized. I compare this to, say, Shurrak's incredibly dense card, and notice that the text there utilizes that extra space well. Is it straightforward to expand this area slightly in MSE? I poked around with the "style" file in the hi-res template directory briefly, then got scared and closed it.

Also, and related: often times the last word or two at the bottom of the card gets indented, and this really annoys me. Often times it seems like there should be plenty of space to avoid it, and I just can't make it happen. Example below. Any way to fix this? expanding the area slightly would help, maybe?

Before making adjustments to your style file, save a copy as a backup. That way, if you mess it up too much, you can go back.

To adjust the width of the abilities box, go into the style file and find "abilities" and change the width value. To adjust the height, which will push the angled section of the text box down, you'll need to find the "abilheight" coding and increase the value after
Quote:
if card.marvelsym = "" then
Don't push the angled part down all the way to the bottom or you could end up having text overlap the card border.

Re: MSE - Easy Army Card Creator (V2.4 for CHCG24)

Thanks mac122. If I had actually looked, I couldn't have missed the very-nicely-labeled "ABILITY TEXT" in the code.

Seems like the maximum value possible for the height in the card.marvelsys boolean is 958. Anything higher and the first line of the Ability Text box starts having vertical alignment problems. I wish there was a way to alter those parameters on a per-card basis, especially since the hi-res valkrill card is slightly different. (sends with up to the MSE fairy).

I just have a ton of different style files saved off ("style-narrow", "style-narrow-Valkrill", "style-medium", "style-maxtext", etc). Then when I am ready to generate a card image, I just erase the style file and rename a copy of the appropriate style file to "style". (And restart MSE.)
