This issue marks our one-year anniversary: on January 1st, 2014, we released our very first issue. I honestly can't believe it's been that long, but it's true.
In my humble opinion, this issue turned out pretty darn well. On page 20 we feature a few short reflections from our staff on the past year of working for the Codex. In addition, we've got a great strategy review on C3V's Mok, written by
@ Taeblewalker
, and a detailed playtest of
@ Scytale
's Clementine Ford, written by Ixe. More articles include an interesting approach to C3G army-building by
@ Dysole
, a couple of great Fan Fictions by
@ The Grim Reaper's Friend
, and
@ marrowick
's interview of C3G legend
@ GreyOwl
.
Give it a read! As always, we enjoy your feedback immensely. Give us a holler on Facebook, Twitter, email, or a good old PM to either myself
@ El T
) or
@ Ninja Status
. Tell us what you liked, what you didn't like, what you'd like to see in March's Codex, anything. We're all ears.
Happy New Year, and keep on 'scaping!

-- Side Note --
Due to issues with upload permissions (which also caused the delay of this issue's release until late in the day) we have uploaded the Codex to Google Drive rather than the downloads section of Heroscapers.

This issue has some great material. For our cover story,
@ MegaSilver
was in attendance at GenCon 2014 last month to take pictures and write a recap. We've got a few new faces on the Codex team, including
@ kolakoski
, who wrote up an interesting and detailed Battle Report with the help of his fellow members of the NYC Gang of Four.
In addition, we've got our returning classics such as
@ Taeblewalker
's C3V Strategy Review (this time detailing the Havech Eradicators),
@ orgsbane
's Custom Spotlight, and
@ The Grim Reaper's Friend
's fan fiction. I'd love to list off all the awesome people who contributed to the Codex and their articles, but I'd be sounding a bit long-winded. Check it out for yourself!
To all of you 'scapers reading this--you're who we do this for. We hope you enjoy.
Thanks,
El T

With the release of our second issue, the Codex team is launching social media outlets to help spread the word about the Codex, the community, and the game itself outside of Heroscapers itself.
We're now on Facebook (/hscodex), Twitter (@heroscapecodex), and a new email address has been set up for submissions, questions, and letters to the editor (codex@heroscapers.com).
Of course, this will only be a success with the help and support of the community, so I encourage you to give us a follow or a like, and help spread the word! The social media outlets will also serve as a more efficient form of this thread, helping us bring public announcements to the community. If you're not on either network, let others know about us!

Spoiler Alert!
It was said on the home page announcement that the Codex Staff would publish a new Codex every month, but we recently got the unfortunate news that one of our Editors was stepping down to a lesser role. We are now left with only two Editors. The remaining Editors have decided that our best option going forward is to stretch our publication schedule to a bi-monthly basis.
What does this mean for you and for us?
On the downside, of course, it means that you'll have to wait longer in between new Codices. It's our hope that we have continued the tradition of making the Codex a rich, in-depth source of Heroscape knowledge and news, and that we can keep you busy throughout the extra month of wait with reading through the last Codex.
On the upside, it means that we'll be able to deliver a more well-crafted, more interesting product with the extra time we'll have to create the Codex. Not only that, but we'll be able to coordinate the releases more smoothly ahead of time, so we can get the Codex to you right on schedule!
The next release is scheduled for the 1st of March.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot
@ El T
,
@ Ninja Status
, or
@ MegaSilver
a PM.
