This battle was fought between me and my Pops. Our armies were 600 points (mine was technically 605, but we always allow a five point difference). This was yet another deathmatch, last one standing wins. We played on this map I cooked up, symmetrical on both sides. The start zones are the dungeon spaces.

Let the battle begin:
Robots were taking over. This war with the machines started a mere 48 hours ago. They struck in the middle of the night, no one could have seen it coming. A large portion of the non-robotic army was taken out over the last two days, but they weren't going to give up. They finally had a chance to rally up some of the most disciplined soldiers and make a strong counterattack.
The two armies approached the ruins of what used to be a guard tower. They approached cautiously, taking their time and sticking together. The only two robots that stayed behind were Penny and Zetacron. The robots crossed the river and took a defensive position on the elevated sand bank instead of trying to take the watch tower. It ended up working out in their favor because as soon as an Omnicron Sniper sees a member of the Sacred Band, he takes a shot. The bullet hits the Sacred Band, but Parmenio urged him to keep moving, keeping him on his feet. This ended up not mattering as the second sniper shot the Sacred Band warrior down.
Parmenio took this personally as he charged the sniper, this one standing in the middle of the ruins, and struck it down. His soldiers close to his side. This, turned out, to be a decoy. A trap! Now with warlord and his men standing in a tight group in the middle of the ruins, an explosive blast rang out from the Deathwalker 9000 hidden behind the wall. In one quick explosion, all the Sacred Band warriors lay dead, the warlord unable to prevent any of them from falling. Before Parmenio could even process what just happened, the walking death machine locked onto him and riddled him with bullets. He was badly injured and mourning, but still alive. He fell to his hands and knees in an attempt not to be seen, warfare and bullets all around him.
His companion Zelrig flew in at just the right moment, going around the ruins and burning the two Omnicron Snipers standing next to each other on the sandbank. The 10th Regiment take this moment to try and rush in closer to the ruin, thinking it may be safe enough to gain some ground, but the Zettian Guard nearby the Deathwalker 9000 mowed one of them down before he could. The 10th Regiment tried another push forward, and again, another was taken down by Deathwalker 9000.
Pushing in against the robots wall was proving almost impossible. They outranged all the soldiers and attacked faster than anyone could run. Zelrig, however, saw this wall as an opportunity and swooped around the standing walls and towers. With all the strength he could muster, he made an immense flame that melted Deathwalker 9000 and one of his guards where they stood, leaving just one remaining. He felt great, but just then Zetacron joined the battle. He crossed the stream and did quite a bit of damage on the unsuspecting Zelrig.
The rest of the robots also began to close in. Penny flying over to where Deathwalker 9000 just stood, Deathwalker 8000 coming into the ruins from the other side catching the 10th Regiment who were stationed there off guard. One escaped up the tower, but the other met his end from the Deathwalker. The last Regiment took a final shot from the top of his new perch, but he missed. Just then Penny came flying up and took threw him over.
Weiss had finally reached the outer ruins just in time to watch Zelrig take even more damage from Zetacron. Even though the robot stood next to the dragon, he seemed impervious to the dragon's claws and teeth. Weiss assesses the situation and knows she must do something about the robot girl standing atop the tower.
She begins to climb the ladder, but takes a shot in the back from Deathwalker 8000. He begins assulting her with rapid fire attacks, but he got a little too close to the sulking and injured Parmenio. He saw the opportunity present itself and took it. Back on his feet he ran up the mound of rubble and swung his sword down on the robot, taking it out and allowing Weiss to continue up the ladder safely.
Meanwhile, Zetacron continues to oppress Zelrig, bringing the mighty emperor to the brink of death, but Zelrig finally caught the large soulborg in his mouth and crushed it to pieces with his teeth.
Things were looking bad for Penny, but the disciplined army were all looking very beaten and worn down. Before she could pick a target, Weiss reached the top of the tower and critically struck the robotic girl taking her down in seconds. All that remained was the lone Zettian Guard which Weiss rained icicles down upon. It's armor was unable to bare the assault as it crumbled. The disciplined army was victorious.
My thoughts:
This game felt like it was decided with just three or four lucky moments. My dad taking out all my remaining Sacred Band with one Explosion was huge and set his army up for a great advantage early on. Of course though, I was only able to undo that advantage with a very lucky Mystical Flame from Zelrig. I rolled three skulls and managed to take out a Zettian Guard with it as well as 9000. It was funny how Zetacron was consistently rolling 2-4 shields on every attack I sent his way, and honestly Zelrig almost went down to him because of it. If my dad had done one more wound on Zelrig and Zetacron remained unharmed and fairly far away from the rest of my army, things could have gone a lot different. Finally, it was very unfortunate for my dad that Weiss attacked Penny with a 3 skull hit, and she blocked none of them. I do think Penny could have taken out the rest of my army since they were all pretty weak at that point. It was a very fun and very strategic game I feel!
