Since Resident Evil: Afterlife was released on DVD today, I thought I would commemorate the release with the Project Alice idea I have had. I will show you the card and then talk about my ideas on her.
If you haven't seen the Resident Evil movies, Alice is the badass zombie/mutant hunter that has been "infected" and experimented on with the "T-Virus". She is kinda "super hero-ish" with her powers.
STATS:
The fours down the board were not intentional. 4A/4D/4L seems to be the base line for the around 100 point hero, so that is where I started. I really wanted her to be a close up fighter, but she has some ranged attacks with her guns so I set her range pretty low. It isn't unreasonable since she is using small shotguns. You get a short range but with a nice beefy attack. I will talk about the move of 4 in the T-Agility discussion.
DOUBLE ATTACK:
I wanted Alice to be a good aggressive unit. Double attack is a good way to do that with out giving her the big 5 and 6 dice attacks. Question, what is more powerful? A range of 1 with a double attack special power or a normal double attack? With a normal attack attack, you can add height, but the special attack lets you ignore alot of defenses, so that is why I didn't give her a range of 1 with a Special Range Attack.
T-AGILITY:
This power I believe has a good advantage with a good drawback. This menas in the early game, while she is moving into position, she will essentially have a move of 8. Once the fighting starts though, her threat range has been brought back down to a reasonable 9 (instead of 13). With the lack of flying and
disengage, I don't believe T-Agility is too powerful, but a very useful and dynamic power.
[edit] Whoops, I forgot I did give her Disengage, thoughts?
T-IMMUNITY:
From the movies, Alice is immune to all the abilities from the zombies/infected. It seems the three big powers D20 Alice is immune to is: Chilling Touch, Stare of Stone and Soul Devour. I don't believe those immunities are huge, due to there all ready being immunities to Chilling Touch and the other two are too rare to be a factor really. Finally, the "counting as undead against other undead" was my really awkward and clumsy way of saying Alice can't be affected by Zombies Rise Again. I didn't want her rising as a zombie, just doesn't fit with the theme of the character.
POINTS:
I compared her to Kaemon Awa and I feel she is pretty comparable to him and set her points right at the 120. Any thoughts here?
Well, there is Project Alice in all of her awesomeness! Please, as usual, let me know your feedback and if you haven't seen the movies, check them out!
*NEW* 1/3/10 Nemesis Project
This guy is a main antagonist in one of the movies (also in the video games, but, I don't play the video games, so I am just using the movie reference.) If you like looking for the blue card for the blue door, only to find that you need the red card for the red door, then the Resident Evil games are perfect for you! Any way, I digress.
You will find the Nemesis Project is a mini Q10. His specials have been cut in half, but still do a good job representing the weapons Project Nemesis beings to the table. The T-Virus Infection is both thematic and a neat way to give the zombies of Morindan a neat little synergy.
