I actually tried to do just that in VS a long while ago. Found out that VS doesn't have the size for it. I was able to fit about 4 or 5 maps in their general locations relative to each other. I figured I had to "block off" the official map and make several maps to puzzle together to get the right feel.
Now that I think about it. Someone actually did make a scale replica of the official World Map. It would be like playing giants, or one of those miniature war maps where you decide where you want to move your troops. Check the Downloads/5+Map section.
